Exactly! I was the first one in my family (besides my dad) to get a college degree, and I put myself through college. I used that degree for maybe 4 or 5 years before hanging up my work clothes and becoming a housewife and mother
I agree with you about college, but also wanted to point out that intelligence (naturally ingrained trait) has nothing to do with whatever knowledge you learn through education.
My impression was frankenglock was calling it a meter (measure?) of intelligence because colleges had standards at some point... meaning you didn't get into college unless you had a certain level of intelligence.
Oh I'd say it's been quite a bit longer than that.
I went to college to get laid. I went to libraries to get smart.
Same here. But the girls were all snooty rich liberals, so college didn't come through in that respect.
There's a "at least the British are coming" joke in there somewhere, PR.
Serious burn.... what a twat

Remember Yourgash Jeans? Maybe it was Jordache....70's are kind of blurry.
LOL
I went to college with ROTC individuals. They were smart people. They did not drink and cavort like some of the frat-boys. They had tidy hair. They sometimes wore uniform on campus. Also, they had the armed services PAY for their college education. Smart move IMO.
Miley Hayes probably graduated from Harvard, Vassar, or Yale. Too bad those wonderful schools never taught English grammar. Oh well, $75K/yr swirls down the drain because they taught Gender studies instead of how to be a well rounded American.
When I was in the Army back in the late 80's early 90's...
Most of the young enlisted guys were like me. Fairly intelligent (in my case very intelligent), working poor or lower middle class background, and not exactly sure what we wanted to do for a career. Our families didn't have money to piss away on college, and a lot of us didn't really want to go to college.
The military gave us some experience, world travel for a good percentage of us (me), and let us grow up in a fairly controlled and mostly positive environment.
It also gave us poor white boys preference points in hiring, which allowed us to neutralize affirmative action later on.
It was the same for a lot of us female soldiers too, but I decided to go to college since Uncle Sam was paying. It did help me get some jobs, but it was my training and experience from other facets of life that actually helped me.
I liked that you used the term "female soldiers". That's how I know you're real.
I served with a lot of outstanding females. There was one that if circumstances had been different....you know. We were both too young.
I also used my college money, but ended up getting better jobs that didn't use my education. College was mostly a good experience and it made me well rounded. I would have been better off in the trades, but, that is all water under the bridge.
I hope you are well. God bless.
Thank you. Unfortunately, there were many guys who, no matter how good we were or what we did, we were simply never accepted.
I am well and hope you are too. God Bless you too.
Nice one!
Miley, if you went to college, you need to go back. That was one of the stupidest things I've heard.
Funny. Meme. No source available -? Seems like the account was suspended and other links give only errors.

she excelled at common core spelling!
Yes, when you don’t even know basic English and spelling, you aren’t college material. So instead you go into the military where brain function and physical endurance, love for your country are needed. Colleges these days teach intolerance and liberalism, useless courses in the real world. Entry is based on race and gender. No SAT/ACT scores required.
She has no clue! There are lots of reasons to join, for love of country, educational opportunities, travel, food, lodging, camaraderie, learning how to lead. You will mature quickly, you will have a sense of accomplishment, you will become physically stronger, you will be able to defend yourself.
Too cool.
This post is an oldie, but I still love it!
