Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I hear and read about a coming of WWIII….haven’t we been in it since the 1940s? After WWII it became a world war on the population itself - food and water poisoning, destroying food resources, “vaccines”, abortions…if there was to be another Great War it should be for Freedom WWIV…
Yeah, WW3 was the Cold war where the goal was for the hatred between the Soviets and West were meant to consume the world. Instead, Stalin did not co-operate, and they had to pull the plug and while they still retained on of their horses in the race, one horse races are very lame, and so I personally believe we the people won the WW3.
WW4 would be for keeps.
I guess the bigger question is what the definition of a "world war" is. If we're referring to multiple countries banding together to fight in a specific area, then couldn't the middle east with the US weapons and EU "peacekeepers" be called that? Couldn't the vietnam war, where dozens of smaller countries tried to fight off huge tyrannical governments, also be called that?
Food question: Should I Peel nonorganic apples, pears, zuchini, potatoes, carrots???
Since no real foodies are answering, I'll go ahead and say "yes, if possible".
My wife knows the real answer much better than I do. All I can remember from her wisdom is definitely on the apples. She has a much broader answer about skins and rinds concentrating the toxins, but I forget exactly.
Well, guess I’m at that age….stress test last week. Got THE call yesterday that a heart Cath is needed due to an abnormality. Going to see if they can do it through the wrist instead of the groin. I’m a bit freaked, but ok since I’m a Christian. I’ll let God get me through it. Faith is wonderful.
God is with you and pray that the physicians hands are guided by HIM.There is good to be done with medicine, and regarding our hearts and all the tubing, valves, and such, it is wonderful that what would have caused serious problems 100 years ago, can be intervened with the right care and procedures. Godspeed.

Interesting find in etymology (history of words). The word 'sinister' comes from a Latin word for 'on the left side' and is associated with such concepts as deviancy, darkness, evil and malevolence. From Merriam-Webster:
.
"... But beginning with the appearance of Eve on Adam’s left side in accounts of Genesis, the Christian tradition finds instances of the left side being pinned to immorality. ..."
.
Conversely, the word 'right' "... is used to mean "correct", "true", or "ethically sound" ..."
.

This is yet another reason why we should all study Latin. We have long been separated from our language roots, and in that separation, we are missing a vast amount of context.
Our family uses Henle Latin. It's an older curriculum, but in the Henle II, III, and IV books, students are translating Caesar, Cicero, and The Aeneid.
Agreed. Just one more aspect of modern life we can look forward to fixing. The list is long...
Explains why they love their Left Hand Path.
Cooking corner: la mayonnaise mousseline
A huge problem with homemade mayo is: what to do with the egg white?
My Mum taught me la mayonnaise mousseline:
That’s it: a lighter mayonnaise with an interesting texture.😋
Must try this! 👏 Sounds yummy!
...once made it with olive oil but the flavor of the oil was quite strong😃
Pharmaceutical sedation & mind altering drugs has to be of the devil! I've been wide awake about an hour, it's 3:15 AM. After my surgery I couldn't sleep due to pain. Especially pain from ureteral stent. I'm dependent on two prescriptions and have taken myself off the majority used for pain after twenty years of dependency. My husband has Gabapitin (nerve pain) and I've taken sometimes when we travel for hip pain. (Now I know my hip pain wasn't related to disk or sciatica) The stent is very painful and I tried the gabapitin several about a week after surgery. Now I'm wide awake because my body can't sleep without out it. The doctors prescribed several pain drugs and I refuse to take them. Especially Oxy! That drug should be outlawed. Anyway I'll crash eventually when I'm tired enough. If you have never taken pain or sleeping medicine don't start if you can help it!
Lortab helped me after my service C-section. It just takes the pain away. No high. No loopy feeling. Just free from pain.
Lortab is hydrocodone, i.e. Vicodin. Be careful.
I'm glad you found something that helps. My daughter had c-section and she had pain at least a month. She never took anything stronger than Tylenol. Probably because she's breast feeding and she's seen a family member deal with addiction. Loratab is like taking a sugar pill for me. I've been on some sort of pain medication since 1998. I think my body is rejecting it maybe multiple reasons. Tramadal got to the point it didn't help pain so I stopped getting RX. If it's really bad I'll take tordal or voltarian pill (comes in topical gel and it doesn't help) My pain Dr prescribes 20 tordal instructions take over five days, she only gives it every two months because it's so strong. They usually last me at least three months. I started eliminating one RX after another. I began having bad side effects. Leg restlessness and very bad hallucinations. I can't take Ambien because of hallucinations. Topamax really helped my pain and kept weight down but the hallucinations were insane! Weird thing I only say things at night when it was dark in house. Topical herb plant based salves work better than any pill I could take. Essential oils work also. They aren't convenient for travel.
They do have cleaning miracles, it's called "wives".
I got to a breaking point last year and started looking for short cut ways to keep the casa picked up. Turns out my answer was “declutter” it was like a miracle. I grabbed some black trash bags and some boxes and went through the house room by room getting rid of all the trash and junk - then I had to get real and get rid of all the extra stuff I was holding onto all the “just in case or maybe someone will need it stuff”. It was an amazing 🤩 feeling honestly I couldn’t wait to get up and tackle the next room every day. After I got all the extra stuff out of my house then I was able to set up organizing systems that worked for me and my family- it was a joy at that point bc I knew it was gonna work this time!! I looked into a lot of “minimal living and declutter videos on YouTube . I am by no means a minimalist but they have so many great ideas and inspiration. They help you understand that you don’t actually need all the stuff we keep. And there is an emotional/mental price to pay along with the price of physically having to manage it as well. The psychology of it all is fascinating. I recommend Cass the Clutterbug and Minimal Mom on YouTube. I go through periodically now and declutter here and there stuff that’s built up but it’s so much easier now and my house stays picked up!! But when there is a mess it’s so easy to clean up bc everything has a home that it fits neatly in. God Bless 🙏
I have been slow in decluttering, but now that I am in my senior years, it is a must. That saying "I don't want them to find me like this" is my carrot. It's good for the brain, and it's healthier.
Your dedication and focus would be that miracle. That’s what you should pray for.
I feel this deeply. With so many kids, trying to clean house is like brushing your teeth while eating oreos.
Hmmm, you know, if you spent the next 14 hours organizing the house, getting the dishes and laundry done, and everything was completely spotless, wouldn't that be kind of a miracle?
So I had a bit of a weird setback happen this week. Woke up on sunday with my left wrist swollen to the size of an apple and in an extreme amount of pain. Thought for sure it was a broken bone as I've been erring on the side of safety for my recent mechanic stuff (we've been jammed with requests, close to 50 cars coming in over the past week alone). Turns out one of the bones dislodged and was putting a ton of pressure on some nerves. The surgery took only 20mins and they put me in a rather small cast with a follow-up next month. Dodged a huge bullet as if there was broken bones it'd be 6-8 months recovery minimum.
Dang I hate you had to have surgery but glad they were able to find the source and fix it. Praying for a speedy recovery.
Damn, I'm glad you're ok!
Questions for Normies:
My dad's answers, from 2021. He is far more open minded nowadays.
"Some are corrupt but not everyone could be corrupt. There is no way they can suppress even half who are good people to this extent."
"Same as 1 - some are corrupt, but there are so many idealistic journalists who would never compromise"
"People become doctors to help community. At least some of them. There is no way they could actively hurt innocent patients."
"The cemetries were running at triple speed. A youtuber said so and he even showed the videos of smoke going up thick"
That's probably the answer we're gonna get if we ask normies.
I guess we are trained from an early age that it is very foolish to paint everything and everyone in the same group with the same brush. Funny now quickly that life lesson goes away when they are told to attack someone or some group of other people because funny man on TikTok told them to do so.
What is Faith, is it blind or is there a Faith that helps us see in What Creator wants for our lives ?
Faith leads us to be open to guidance.
does your computer have a decent graphics card and software?
mine, not so much, I have to shield my screen from all the screen flashes.
remember the old 'flash cubes" ?
I was wondering if anyone out there has an old windows computer and if they can see if the graphics keep flashing when clicking on different websites. I don't trust the government or prople who have access to computer software.
My guess is that it may be time for me to get a new computer.
