What leads me to believe this is a planned movie: McCarthy made zero inroads with Democrats. I believe NBC even mentioned how he was pinning all the blame on political division solely on the Democrats in the Sunday talk shows leading up to the vote.
A true swamp creature would do anything and all things to maintain power, at the behest of their puppetmaster. I don't believe McCarthy is a genuine Swamp Creature, at least not in the last year.
I've seen quite a few well-presented cases for him being a grey hat, so his calm, even happiness at being ousted might be part of that- glad to be released from the squeeze.
