Amen. That is why I keep all the old stuff I can. I never followed shiny objects and didn't want to pay for them. Like front loading washers I see at the curb after 3 years... On and on. I never had any headaches. My husband fixes everything too. I remember growing up having one iron one toaster one refrigerator until I left home!
Ps I purchased a dumb TV when my TV from 2009 broke.
Best Buys insignia brand is half price of a smart TV and was shipped to my door in 2 days. I had to go to Best buy to buy it. Just hooked up my TV antenna and Roku.
I'm really not looking forward to my plasma TV from 2009 dying. Only TV in our house. I don't want a smart TV. We only use it to play video games with the kid. 1 hour a day screen time. I'm now that weirdo parent.
Oh my gosh yes, our washer and dryer are 20 years old now, look like crap but still work great. My Mom has had to replace her newer ones twice already, and she constantly complains about how bad they are. We have a Daewoo microwave from 2002 that is still going strong, yet the new Oster we had only lasted 5 years. My car just turned 18 too, never had any problems. We only replace our phones when they stop supporting them...current one is at least 5 years old.
I had a crappy old smart phone that I made last for over 6 years. Had to eventually get a new one because the thing was fried and couldn't even turn it on, but I was happy I made it last so long. Compare that to most people who get a new phone every year! $1000 every year! Absolutely insane! My old smartphone was less than $200 and I spaced that out for 6 years, which comes to $33 per year. I have no idea why people feel the need to get a new phone every year, or a new car every 5 years, or new appliances, etc., especially if there's nothing wrong with them. They just want the next "new, shiny" thing, and to show off to their friends and neighbors.

Amish cheat A LOT. they bought a farm close to us, ripped out all the electric and plumbing in their house. then came over to one of my neighbors and ran a water hose from the neighbors house to their farm for pretty much ever. of course the neighbor is on a water pump run by electric. they borrow phones, they ask for rides all the time in our horseless carriages. and they abuse their animals.
i'm sure they will do much better than us when SHTF but they still use electric as much as they can get away with.
You bet! I tried one of those Core hydration bottles, my body started detoxing the next day. Do not buy any of those. Best are just spring water bottles, but I know they also add some additives to enhance the flavor, so I distill the heck out of those and drink the resulting water.
Bluetooth and wifi emit levels of radiation which distort the voltage gated calcium channel which disrupts cellular function and therefore overall health. The more smart, the more your sleep will be disrupted and your health will suffer.
the real new definition of 'smart' is the same that apple started with the prefix "i-".
its a marketing term that can mean whatever they want. heck, it can mean whatever you want if you create a product to market.
yeah, a lot of the time it refers to automated features that are trackable.
But there are plenty of products called 'smart' that have no electronic components. judging a product solely on its name is beyond dumb, its anti-intellectual.
and many many devices that aren't called 'smart' still have electronic components that can track you.
which devices can track you? the ones that can track you.
which do so nefariously? the ones that do so nefariously.
there's no shortcut.. just do real research on what you buy.
Yes, many in my neighborhood that have been getting new electric meters are saying their bills have skyrocketed by hundreds of dollars when they were installed without their knowledge/permission. The techs just show up and replace the meters. When people call to complain about the amount of their bills, they are told that it’s because their old meters weren’t working correctly and the new ones are, and that’s what their bills are supposed to be. I’m waiting for the day they do this to ours, hoping they forget about ours.
Ummm.. as an old time computer engineer.. I’d have to tell you NO. What you are referring to is the harddrive monitoring technology known as S.M.A.R.T. Which is an old disk monitoring tech developed years ago when we were still using mechanical disk drives.
Actually not really.... I Have a D5 Centurion Smart Gate motor (Its very common here in SA because we all have gates.) The Old version had the PC board on top with a little window & Buttons For Setup, etc which you could do yourself...The SMART Version now the PC board is Completely sealed and you have to use their App in order to set the Limits, remotes etc... If they Stop the app, I cant get into the Motor's features because i cant communicate with the Motor anymore....

Smart parent. In the traditional sense of the word.

If only we still had some smart people!
Gotta give cudos for their acronyms. Follow the SMART product,s but ignore the DUMB,s ( deep underground military bases )
Amish and Luddites don't have any worries. God bless them.

I hope they don't cheat when it comes to vaccines.....evidently autism is unheard of in their community.
👌👍
Smart water? Do they hide nanotech in it?
Same question here.

Smart for the regime, dumb for the customer.
Anyone that has anything 'Smart' at this point is beyond help.
EVERYTHING is over-engineered!
It's amazing how many people are naive about this.
Smart phones Dumb prople
smart cars are literally just shorter.

They call it smart because they think we're dumb
Smart Control=government control/destruction at their whim.
Smart ass?
I refuse to buy any tech that has "smart" in it, except for smartphone, I am not sure if we can get away with it these days.
Its getting difficult...
As they put in the smart meters, people are getting pissed off. Their bill is tripling.
