Having taught high school for 41 years and now tutoring in high schools and colleges for the last 5, I have never seen so many kids who are terribly out of shape. Would you believe that in the last high school I worked in, all, and I mean ALL, the athletic records were more than 20 years old.
Pre-diabetes is a scam, medicalizing what was only a half-decade ago considered normal, healthy levels. Just like everything else, constantly moving goal posts to bring you under control one way or the other.
If you eat 3+ meals a day and have what are sold as "carbohydrates" in every meal, you're probably insulin-resistant too, which is basically pre-diabetes. The GMOs and other "additives", as they have called them, are a big factor too
The goal-post-moving is what drives me batshit crazy. Cholesterol "goal posts" were somewhat higher numbers several decades ago...and Big Pharma has been insisting that they be adjusted downward to push those statins on the populace. My internist bugs me EVERY year to go on statins for my cholesterol, which is just over 200. No EFFING way. Ever.
The body can't make blood out of chips, red bull and bullshit.
Every meal must have protein as the main event - or it's not a meal.
I remember seeing young women in school and in the office always eating bullshit chips, popcorn and they always had menstrual problems, endometriosis and were always cold/anemic.
The medical machine never asks or talks about diet, unless they're trying to push cholesterol drugs on you....
The problem is that no matter how involved in their kids lives, parents have been, Social Media has brainwashed them and that's just the way it is! They have put responsible parents in a bind cause if you disconnect the internet cause you can see how it's affecting them negative, you are the oppressor! These mfs knew exactly how to invalidate parental control! If you get pissed off and fight back you are then labelled as the unreasonable one!
The "body positivity" and "healthy at all weights" b.s. isn't helping anything. Fat kids used to get bullied but now they are celebrated. It only encourages them to eat more and do less physical activity.
Not saying that all bullying is good, but some push back from your peers can help push people the right direction.
Also, drugging kids with ADHD meds instead of letting them go outside and play (be kids)... burning off that extra energy, and calories.
I remember my Dad saying seeing an overweight kid when he was a kid was rare—and every generation has gotten worse. Between the food, vaxxes, and parenting that prefers they stay inside watching videos and games they are set up to be overweight and out of shape.
Its because they keep changing the test parameters to get more people under the umbrella of "needing medicine we've already patented" and not an actual food issue.
There ARE food issues, but ive watched them walk this line back for 20 years and then create a whole new line "pre-diabeetus" to grab even more sales. This one is all on pharma.
Correct, and the way to revolutionalize food is to quit consuming their products. If you don't live where you can grow or raise it yourself or buy from a farmer who does, then move. The only things I buy from a grocery store are fruits and vegetables that I cant grow in my area.
Throw all of the dry ingredients, the oil, and half of the water in a mixer with a dough hook. Begin mixing on the lowest setting for about a minute, slowly adding the rest of the water. Gradually increse the speed to medium. When dough is mixed but still slightly tacky (thicker than cookie dough and a little sticky) after 4-6 minutes, remove from mixer and place in an oiled bowl, covered with a towel for about an hour until the dough doubles in size. I heat my oven to about 100°F and then shut it off and let the dough rise in there, but the counter or microwave work too.
After the dough has risen, place it on a piece of parchment paper and work it flat to the size of your pizza stone (get a pizza stone!) and top with a marinara sauce (I like Classico Fire Roasted Tomato and Garlc). Add a couple handfuls of shredded mozzarella, and then starting in the middle, top the entire thing with about 12oz of pepperoni in a slighly overlapping spiral until you're about an inch from the edge. Sprinkle another handful or so of cheese and then add about 1lb sausage, a box of sliced mushrooms, a pepper or two and whatever else you like.
Throw your monstrosity (parchment paper and all) into the oven with the pizza stone preheated to 450°F for 13 minutes, get yourself a knife and fork, and let me know if you ever get through more than two slices in a single sitting.
It seems for the past 20 years, children have ruled the roost when it comes to mealtimes. Parents just gab in to chicken tendies, French fries , pizza and Lunchables. The sacrificed health for no fights. Same with so many little kids staying up late at night. They did not want the fight or fto be labeled “the mean” parent. The parents are as much to blame as big food.
yea but parents have also been deceived as to how bad the stuff is. When you see a Lunchable for example, maybe you can understand how the bleached flour frankenstein crackers are not good for you but they just think Oh cheese and crackers with ham, 1 little candy bar for dessert, not bad
It's the fake sugars. Sucralose is 400x sweeter than sugar, that's why drinking it makes you have to pee, your body is trying to lower your blood sugar because your insulin can't keep up. That's why people who only eat/drink fake sugars think natural foods (like watermelon) have no taste, they've blown out their sugar receptors. We have a sense of taste for a reason, something sweet hits your tongue and your body produces insulin to control it by storing fat, taste something fatty and your gall bladder helps boost your stomach acid to break it down. Something 400x sweeter is really going to kick up that insulin until you've blown that out and then you're a Type 2 diabetic. Keep going and you end up with dementia or Type 3. Always check a label before you buy anything you plan to eat.
They didn't get that way overnight, sure, blame everything but the parents or Mom who is doing the meals and cooking. You have children, you carry them in your body, warnings about high carbs have been around for at least 25 years, warnings about junk food too. Low income? No excuse. Yes, carbs do make a meal stretch, but it doesn't have to be in the form of stove top stuffing and mountain dew. Riding your bike all summer and running around the backyard playing tag or ball, just running around, kids used to do that, recess was a bunch of wild animals letting off steam. Now you see a lot of droopy kids waiting to use their phones. My Dad used to say "in the future the only thing that will have muscles is the hand and fingers for pushing buttons", and he was an audio tech and ham operator! Yeah, we had dessert. It was Jello 9 times out of 10, chips were for the July 4th cookout, snacks were after school, not all day long, Okay I will stop, I am boomering.
this is true about parents but if we look at the climate around food, everybody has been deceived on how toxic it all is. Parents don't know. I can barely find foods that are healthy except pure meat or vegetables, and even that has the GMO aspect as well as any pesticides
I know. I live near a good market that stocks from local organic farms, I am very lucky, even though Vermont is a blue state, those small farms are dedicated to organic and building good soil to grow in.. it costs more, but I can make it last by making my own soups and casseroles from real food. I can't think about eating 3 meals a day, breakfast is always eggs, (I raise chickens for eggs) or whole oats. Lunch is unheard of, I'll eat a cuke or an apple with some cheese mid day, and suppers are often soups or casseroles made with rice or potatos. Any cheap cut of meat can be cooked right, and adding onions and garlic makes anything taste well. Sugar is a habit, nobody is born needing a lot of it, yet it's a major commodity so they put it in everything to keep you hooked.
Can't spell Pharma without 'harma'
...and then along comes karma...🙏🙏🙏

eh I tried.

They did this with blood pressure. Redefine what was considered “high” so that more people can be put on medication.
If you eat 3+ meals a day and have what are sold as "carbohydrates" in every meal, you're probably insulin-resistant too, which is basically pre-diabetes. The GMOs and other "additives", as they have called them, are a big factor too
And they make the 'bad stuff' super cheap while hiking the costs of raw meats, etc. Corn in everything, GMO corn, added sugars, seed oils, etc.

Eating microwaved captain crunch and playing video games all day
Use pancake syrup instead of milk. Mmmmmm
It's because the parents don't know how to eat.

I'd also add fat / cholesterol too

"They've GMO'd the wheat & corn & sugar in this country to the point it's almost nothing like Americans were eating 150 years ago."
These things weren't good 150 years ago either.
The difference is 150 years ago 1/3 people wasn't obese and people lived less sedentary lives.
People ate their vegetables --- higher potassium diets.
Too much sodium now. This can cause a bunch of problems.

In totally unrelated news 1 in 3 persons aged 10-17 are obese.

I just feel things have gotten a lot worse in the past 4 years.

Spot on - I'm 72! Overweight kids were indeed rare as was kids with autism, ADHD, etc, etc.
Born in 1980 something. Fat kids were rare then too.
Remember Chunk from Goonies? That kid was hilariously fat then, but he wouldn't even raise an eyebrow today.

Or just quit consuming their products.
have you been to the grocery? It's wall-to-wall garbage. We need a food revolution kek

I do my best to eat carnivore / keto which eliminates 99% of it. Sometimes I cheat and get a frozen pizza tho 🥲
Would you like a pizza recipe? I can almost guarantee you'll never even be tempted to eat Dominos or Papa Johns again, much less that frozen shit.
why yes I would!
4 cups AP flour,
3 cups water (125°F),
2 1/2 tsp yeast,
1 Tbsp sugar,
2 tsp salt,
2 tsp garlic powder,
1 Tbsp Italian seasoning,
1 Tbsp oregano,
2 Tbsp olive oil
Throw all of the dry ingredients, the oil, and half of the water in a mixer with a dough hook. Begin mixing on the lowest setting for about a minute, slowly adding the rest of the water. Tyvm! Gonna try my hand at it this weekend 😁
I wonder if those teens also received the Covid jabs.

I knew that Lunchables weren't food by the time I was in the 2nd grade.
