As a former military spouse and one that has lived on post it’s awesome. The kids are well protected and have a safe place to play. It’s like any small city in America. They have their own grocery store, gas stations, and large department store. They have clean swimming pools, gyms and day care facilities and golf courses. It’s going to be fun for them. A new experience so go visit often. Soon you will find that you have your own things to do and people to see and enjoy. Love my kids but glad too see them strike out on their own. They will call you for every little thing ;). Advice I hand out freely. You will enjoy life a little more everyday when you get your own routine God blessed you with your own life - go live it! I live near Pendelton, and you have nothing to worry about. The "horror stories out of Cal that I hear" are in the big, blue, shithole areas of LA and SF, just like in every other state with a large, blue city.

Bless your heart. I know you feel like this is going to kill you. been there. My son was at Pendleton. Not one horror story did I hear. That is one of the most excellent and wealthy counties in Southern California, and that does help! How long will they be there? Where do they go after this? The kids will have awesome memories of living there. It is going to be ok for them. Where do you live, in regards to visiting out there? Take this one week at a time. And start planning way ahead for going out there, and for it being a long visit. Things like even renting a peaceful room in a Christian house, quiet retired people type thing, and a car rental for the duration. Any other relatives out there?

Uhmmm. I live near Camp Pendleton and believe me you have nothing to be fearful of. Just hearing your wildly misinformed depiction makes me worry for you more than for them. Why don’t you just fly on out and have a look for yourself. It is paradise here. This coming from a pede who almost moved to Texas , after visiting these so called patriot havens believe me the SoCal coast is in far better shape than pretty much anywhere else in the country.
