I live in southeastern NC and am currently under a tornado warning. Sitting here praying and ready to move into the closet if necessary. It's absolutely pouring and our yard is already flooded, and we aren't even expected to get the worst of the rain until Thursday and Friday. South Carolina and Georgia are going to experience catastrophic rains while we're expected to "only" get around 18 inches here in my part of NC.
Please pray for the safety and well-being of your Southeastern frens who will be affected by Debby. We need it and greatly appreciate your love.
MAY GOD BE WITH YOU ALL
Prayers for you all affected by the floods. If you can ditch around your home do it, to help run off, if you can get your car on some higher ground, do it. If you still have power, get as much fresh drinking water bottled up, use any bottles laying around. Floods are nasty, Vermont has been hit several times over the past 2 years, the deaths have been from people driving through standing water, when you cannot tell the banks of a river from the road, just stay off the road. Have gallons of bleach on hand to put into any standing water in your home, get dry goods to the top shelves, oats, rice, flour etc, get a stock of mosquito repellent, they will come , boots can dry out, do not walk through standing water without wearing them. God help you through this, water is as damaging as fire, please keep your wits about you.
.... fill the bath with tap-water?
Prayers.
Probably too late for this now, but people really need to have one (or 2) of these:

The box is small - just store it under your bathroom sink if you have a cabinet.
Yes that is a very good idea. It stops the dog jumping in, or the toddler, or sneaky hand-washers to then foul your water.
Prayers and stay safe fren.
🙏🏻
Piedmont NC here - only getting some rain. Praying for my friends, frens, and family in the coastal Carolinas.
Just talked to my Mom who is about 30 minutes west of Winston-Salem (on I-40; Bermuda Run area for those who are curious) she said y'all were getting only a touch of rain so far but it could be up to 30 inches in North Charleston where her sister lives.
Also have an aunt outside Tampa that we need to check in with.
Here in New England we have a severe thunderstorm happening, flood watches and a lot of rain and wind, but unrelated to Debby.
Where ever you are be safe, anons!
Just north of charlotte and we’ve gotten zip so far.
I’m from FL originally. I get the drill.
Prayers for safety.
Prayers on the way fren.
Frogs love water but even they can drown in a pool.
Stay safe.
Prayers will be with you.
Send it to Ohio. We are desert here
Seriously the grass itself is beginning to turn yellow
Haven't had a decent rain for two months
What is this grass of which you speak? Mine grows fast and high in the spring just to piss me off, then dies and is mostly gone until next spring. Enough stays sporadically spread throughout my yard to allow the dogs to get burrs.
East TX. Rained all spring. Now my grass that is left looks like hay.
I feel your pain, living through the Dericho in May here and then Hurricane Beryl in July. Prayers, fren!
Prayers up.
Prayers to you.
I got around 14 -16 inches here is Florida. Entire yard was under water. And I waited until too late to get a tailor load of sand for bagging so my pool flooded over from yard. It a little trouble to clean up after something like this, but I always look at the good side.
Stay safe fren.
You'll be in my prayers.
Praying - stay safe!
I hope you guys are OK. Prayers for everyone impacted by the storm.
Lifting y'all up in prayer.
I've chased tornadoes for a few decades and I've also been in a structure in the direct path of several. I would like to offer a piece of advice. If you are under a tornado warning, always move to the safest part of your home if the strongest part of the storm (and/or strongest area of rotation) is moving your direction / is imminent. If God forbit it rolls over your position, it can go from a breeze to all out violent winds in a matter of seconds. You may not have time to get into a closet/bathroom/basement. Been through a bad one now to know, when the warning is out, act like its going to hit for your own safety.
This is a really late response, but I appreciate your feedback and advice. And I did heed your warning. We got four more tornado warnings last weekend when Debby was rolling through overnight. I took it very seriously, but luckily we were spared. Not so lucky an hour or so north of here where tornadoes did touch down. It was a scary night, but we made it and are very thankful.
Thanks for reading. Tornadoes from Hurricanes differ a bit from Tornadoes in the heartland. They tend to move much faster, and usually move in a northerly direction with the low as it moves onshore. They usually aren't on the ground long but can be just as violent even though they tend to not have a wide vortex.
Youtube is a wealth of information about tornadoes nowadays. One of the scariest videos ever taken was from this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0c27Twu__o His wife died, he miraculously survived. He was in a wheelchair so he couldn't go anywhere.
If you have this kind of time, with a very large tornado approaching that you can visually see, if you have a route of escape take it. This tornado did not appear to be moving quickly and you CAN certainly outrun them in a car driving in a straight line away from it.
I'm with you fren 195 miles inland from ya.. 🙏
Well your internet is still on. So there's that ;)
Lifting you up in prayer, fren. May God use this to benefit those affected by the storms.
God, please bless and protect our brothers and sisters in Southeast America.
Prayers sent. Prayers have power and why evil hates them.
Just checking on you fren to see if everything is okay, and if your staying dry.
Sorry for the late response, but yes, we made it through. Our area did get some flooding with road closures. The rivers crested a few days after the storm, and that was messy. Luckily, the storm moved a bit west of us and we did not get the 18 inches we expected. We only got about eight inches, plus a few more tornado warnings. We had some roof leakage and had to call our insurance company, and now we are dealing with mud and a massive mosquito plague, but I'll take it. It could have been much worse. Thanks again for caring, fren!
Glad you made it through relatively well fren. Thanks for the update.
Praying for all. 💕
