What's comical is that my bank's ATM asks for my pin, THEN asks me for my language preference. Every stinking time. If you know my PIN, then perhaps you might consider using/saving my "idioma", too. Crazy.
English is my second language but I knew it fluently by the time I came here and also it is a requirement for citizenship. There’s no need to have a Spanish option unless they cater to those who are here illegally. My first language is not an option and tbh after living here for a while I prefer English. If they are so eager to live here you would think they would want to integrate with our culture. I LOVED America before I came here and still do. But most of those who come here illegally have a different agenda - either to destroy or take for themselves. Majority of those who come for the American dream and at least those who are able to fund themselves take the legal route.
Bravo to you Salty! We are around to have such a passionate person who loved America to integrate the way you did. Takes guts and focus. Wish some Native born Americans felt the same!
I'm an immigrant myself. When I moved back to Japan in 2012, I insisted on using Japanese menus from the beginning. Whether I am using an ATM or the self checkout at the grocery store, I always use Japanese. To me, it is embarrassing to have some stupid English voice talking to me in public, drawing attention to me. I refuse English and from the start I did my best to learn the language. Learning the moon runes is a lot more difficult than going from Spanish to English. What you've got in America are a bunch of lazy fucks.
I wish Latin was mandatory along with English in US Schools starting at Grade 1. It's much easier for children to learn languages at an early age. We've traveled extensively in Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands & Germany and everyone of our friends learn English in school and I'm ashamed to say know more of our history than we do..
Democrats sure don't know history. Most of them would tell you that Abraham Lincoln was a Democrat fighting the racist Republicans in the South to end slavery and it was the Republicans who formed the KKK. Idiots.
If by some twist of fate some of those democrats actually know the correct history, they will still try to gaslight people into believing the political parties switched ideologies. I've heard that several times over the years from dims trying to say they weren't the party of the KKK.
I also would like to call my phone or cable company and actually be able to understand the agent and get proper help. Hopefully Trump will bring back callcenters to the US.
Wtf ever happened to the citizenship requirement of must speak and understand English. Before my husband died, he was friends with Vietnamese political refugees. The entire family, with the exception of the wife, spoke, read and understood English. They themselves told me the wife would not be able to obtain citizenship like the rest of them bc she refused to learn English. So, that, for me at least, raises the huge question of WHY ON EARTH do we need ballots in any other language besides English? It should be pointless and unnecessary.
They should have made English the official language back in the 1950s when the political will was there.D'oh!
Maybe Trump can get it done - and promote it as PRO-IMMIGRANT: wanting the Hispanics and others to be on a level playing field, be able to compete and get ahead in life, by everyone speaking a common tongue
I just know some folks that would take years to get a visa and they have a family to feed. They came in illegally but besides that they are beyond honest and hard working.
While i have empathy for anyone wanting to improve their quality of life, people MUST enter our country LEGALLY.
Illegal immigration is a slap in the face to all of our Legal Immigrants. My Mother worked for a Federal Judge and I was allowed to sit in the back of the Courtroom for the Naturalization Ceremony's.
All applicants for Naturalization Citizenship had to pass courses in American History and Government which I daresay few of us could pass. They then took an Oath and were presented with their Naturalization Certificate and an American Flag. 📜🇺🇲
It was Very Moving and even though I was a child, I cried. I knew I had witnessed something very special.
They were invited into the Judge's Chamber to have coffee and cookies.
Ask a Naturalized Citizen how they feel about illegals...
My mother immigrated here from Sweden. At the time you needed a finatial sponsor,to make sure you are not a burden on taxpayers. If people were not contributing to society, they would be deported.
Now she has her citizenship and takes her voting more serious than most natural born Americans.
I think we had a recent wave of undesirables be persuaded to leave their country and join the invasion. It was a total open border. And while I agree in principle, I myself have been in situations where I've had to take desperate measures when it comes to taking care of the family. Although illegal I don't necessarily find crossing a border immoral. But i guess rules are rules.
I've been disabled since I was 38. I had 2 children to care for at that age. So, in desperation to take care of my children, should I have been able to go shoplifting or robbing a bank to accomplish that? I have a funny feeling I'd be sitting in prison for breaking the law, starving children or not. So NO, breaking the law to care for your family doesn't cut it for me. Breaking the law is breaking the law. I have yet to see an American citizen get a judicial pass due to hardship after breaking the law. Why are we supposed to give one to people who somehow managed to traverse great distances to get here illegally?
I'm not talking about shoplifting or robbing banks. More like not having a piece of paper to wash dishes, roofing or cut lawns. Can't fault a person for working. Some people are very legalistic, some are practical.
The response you gave that I replied to did not say anything about working a job. You discussed desperate to care for family and you see border crossing as moral issue not criminal. Merely the act of crossing the border illegally is a criminal act. So gotta say, I'm not really sure what point you are trying to make here. I was discussing the criminal act of crossing the border.
Comparing actions taken to care for your family I compared committing a crime to care for them. Americans LIVE under bridges and starve when life is desperate. Should they commit a crime based on DESPERATION they would STILL face legal consequences. Illegals committing the crime of border crossing out of DESPERATION does NOT negate the criminality of their actions any more than DESPERATION excuses criminal behavior for Americans.
That shit has been pissing me off for years.
What pisses me off more is that ballots are available in anything other than English.
Maybe in your state.
We don't seam to have that in Oklahoma.
Ah Oklahoma 🥹 The only state where every county turned red. If it wasn’t for your brutal weather I would have left California for you already.
In WV, Trump won every county too.
Once they stop the weather manipulation, you might want to take a chance on us. : )
In my town we have two Hindi languages.
Weird. When I go to South of the border and make phone calls nothing is in English.
And a lot of them pretend not to understand you, just to fuk with you.....
Your phones country code changes when your cross a border
Amen to that!
What's comical is that my bank's ATM asks for my pin, THEN asks me for my language preference. Every stinking time. If you know my PIN, then perhaps you might consider using/saving my "idioma", too. Crazy.
They do shit like that, just to normalize it.
Lucky for me,I am my own bank now.
It's absurd, this should have never been a thing.
The bare minimum for anyone wanting to get in should be to speak the language, period.
I learned English on my own, there's no excuse.
English is my second language but I knew it fluently by the time I came here and also it is a requirement for citizenship. Many native borns have no clue how good they have it. I come from Europe and would not ever trade it for America.
I agree Salty.... most of of are spoiled to our wonderful life and freedoms here!
Well done fren! 👏
And I don't want to listen to TV commercials in any language but English.
Make English Great Again! MEGA!
AND Our OFFICAL Language!

You are on target fren!
Absolutely Steve!
Japanese is such a beautiful culture and language. :-)
And yes; lots of Americans are lazy when it comes to second languages....
No, I meant the immigrants coming into America who are not bothering to learn the English language. They are the lazy ones.
I also would like to call my phone or cable company and actually be able to understand the agent and get proper help. Hopefully Trump will bring back callcenters to the US.
YES! YES! YES! Give Employment to Americans First!

Why, that's racist, of course!!!
And I won’t have to learn Spanish to work at a job site.

The instructions on thing can be a readable font without all the other languages on them!!
They should have made English the official language back in the 1950s when the political will was there.D'oh!

I hope he does and IBOR! Internet Bill of Rights!
Yes, Let them speak English ONLY
Homan
I know fren...fat fingers..kek!
I have a soft spot for hard working honest illegals.
Most of them don't work.
Don't care how hard they work if they're illegal.
They have to come Legally.
Make Immigration Legal Again! MILA!
I just know some folks that would take years to get a visa and they have a family to feed. They came in illegally but besides that they are beyond honest and hard working.
