Military already has High powered microwave technology way better then this drone defender. Apparently it's illegal for citizens to use since it messed with communication waves FCC will get your ass lol.
What ever happened to good old pellet or BB-Guns? Especially C02 versions. Those can easily take down the small drones. You can shoot those just about anywhere without getting into too much trouble! Put in some sharp bird killer pellets and go to town! No one would hear much of where the shots were coming from.
I swear it’s like the good old country kids have vanished off the face of the US. If I was over there on the east Coast I’d be having a shooting gallery with a few friends in an abandoned wharf building taking down the small drones. 😂😂
lol I like the way you think bob ( insert sling blade voice here)
Am I the only one who noticed the first one was built from off the shelf parts? Not that I am cool like that but it gives me hope if we have entered the Terminator part of this crazy parody movie
Would paintball guns reach them? Could that gum up the gears or mess up propellers?
I have a neighbor who showed me how powerful pellet guns can be & I wouldn't risk being shot in my skull by it within 20 yards. He was able to get through 3/8 plywood with the thing. Not sure if he modded it or not, though it was surprising how much power it had. I would imagine that would cripple those drones at the very least.
I've read that the drones are about 1000ft high; well above paintball height or any lower-power gun, even shotguns (except perhaps a shotgun shotting slug rounds)
That being said, I would not plan on using this device out in Bedminster. Those drones are far too sophisticated to be vulnerable to an intense RF attack.
As one who worked on them from the early years (1970s), I can say you are all wet. What you omit is the "weapon" aspect. You are just playing techno-lawyer, not knowing the subject at all. Originally, it referred to laser weapons and particle-beam weapons, then expanded to microwave weapons. Otherwise, you get down to saying a ring flashlight is a DEW, which it could never be.
But but but, the government loves us. They tell us all the time. They even said these drones are searching for a nuke that entered the country from one of the barbaric hoards that are trying to destroy us. These drones are super friendly and saving lives... only at night.
Obviously this does not work for military grade drones, or not all of them, or FPV drones would not be killing 10's of thousands in Ukraine - Russian theater.
There are many reports of anti-drone electronic disruption, but many, many attacks are still happening without any thing stopping them. It may be because of limited deployment of electronic weapons, I don't know for sure.
On Intel_Slava Z I keep seeing references to optical-fiber drones. It seems amazing to me, but I can only suppose this means that the drone control is from an optical fiber that it unspools in flight. If so, it would be invulnerable to electronic warfare of the signal disruption variety. The EM fields would need to be large enough to disrupt the electronics package.
Yup, impervious to radio jamming, and site picture does not disappear as drone get close to target when other drones lose signal.
It's unbelievable that the drone can spool out nearly 7 miles of fiber optic cable.
But this type of weapon has been around since the 70's really in some form. Remember the American TOW missile, (“Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided.” This missile had a range or around 2.5 miles and guided via a pair of copper wires.
That is what is most likely causing other drones to stop working and such. They have this built into the alien space ships. If they allow illegal aliens to fly them, they would be illegal alien flying ships.
The article is from 2015 fyi.
I was about to say those have been around for years.
They were developed by Battelle, marketed and being sold by Dedrone.
Well the more people who know about them, the better. #watchthewater
Anyone gotten a quote?
Asking for a friend..
Which is now owned by evil Axon.

So 9 years to streamline the technology.

The drones of concern are pretty huge in comparison to the "hobby" drones a bb gun could possibly take out.

This crosses my mind 5x every day. Wouldn’t it be harder to detect where the pellet came from? Though a pellet vs. an SUV sized drone?
Yep. You can mess up a drone with a high powered close range pellet gun. And they’re pretty quiet too.
They work. Speaking from experience. They have been around for some time now and are established at the more critical military facilities....
As many have mentioned, this is an ancient article.
However, the company still exists and appears to have been evolving their tech into something more compact: https://www.battelle.org/insights/case-studies/case-study-details/dronedefender-technology

Could we say this is a DEW?
A cat laser pointer from PetSmart can be defined as a "dew"
That's why I thinks it's funny to get banned for bringing up the existence of DEWs.
Don't be absurd. The term DEW was coined originally to denote systems that could produce lethal physical effects.
A laser is nothing but directed energy into a beam. Just because it's a low power version doesn't mean it isn't technically a DEW...
A bb gun may be a low power version, but it's still a gun...

In this case it would be more correct to say they are a directional signal blocker/scrambler.
I want one!

I doubt they will work on military drones.
They are marketed to military and government(s) for "national security".

Notice clarity of site picture all the way to target. https://rumble.com/v5yr7ck-drone-operators-destroyed-an-abrams-tank-in-kursk-full-video.html?e9s=src_v1_ucp
You can see the electronic counter-measure on the right side of this truck sticking up. It did not stop the fiber-optic drone. https://rumble.com/v5zfcte-russian-fpv-drone-hit-a-ukrainian-pickup-truck-transporting-soldiers.html
Good topic, OP.
How bout those high powered pellet guns they hunt iguanas in fla?
Vaporware. It's just another hole looking for gullible investors.

What is it a directed EMO laser or something??
A Crossbow slingshot. Rocks just fell the techno giants and both fall to earth.
The drones are looking for a nuclear warhead, smuggled out of Ukraine.
If that is the case, then another solution will be needed. That is really high up there.
