I recall in the 80s and 90s how people were so critical of colonial days, but truly, I never saw the problem with it. And empires, we thought, were a thing of the past; the thought was that former empires such as the British empire, were on a natural trajectory to break up into smaller independent states. It seemed that most of that criticism came from the Left, though, and for a time they seemed to be correct.
But the new spread of American influence and hegemony and geography expansion is quite an amazing thing to watch at this time in history. If Trump manages this Greenland expansion, and also regains the Panama Canal, it all will have been worth it in terms of Pax Americana well into the future.

Denmark leases Greenland to the USA for 100 years. Lease represents Denmark's NATO commitment for 100 years. Demark and USA split all resource revenues 50/50 during that timeframe.
