I agree. I think this is fake news. There is one other X account posting this as well using a couple articles as their source, but in the articles there is no mention of Trump suggesting to leave NATO.

Trump should also remove the U.S. from the United Nations and kick the UN Headquarters out of the U.S. then make sure the U.S. puts a dollar for dollar tariff on all imports equal to what they put on us.

I'm skeptical. The military industrial complex wouldn't be happy losing all the exports of military equipment. If the US leaves NATO, no European country would ever buy American military equipment again. Canada and Mexico are also looking into buying European after all the tariffs and hostility they experience from the US.
This will be the death of the Military Industrial Complex!
And millions of jobs, if it wasn't for NATO, EU countries have no reason to buy American military equipment. That's one of the demands NATO has on members which benefits the US.
And get some of our overpayment back for when countries didn't chip in their requiered shares Mr President.

Nobody pays into NATO, the chart which OP keeps posting every day shows federal military spending by country. That means for most countries it excludes the larger portion of the defense spending, which is local. This is why all of Europe handles natural disasters well, but every time FEMA shows up in the US, it turns into a shitshow.
NATO would collapse because it's obsolete if the US leaves, because EU itself could take over the administrative bit, if only EU/EEA countries cooperate in terms of defense. In terms of funding, nothing would change.
Notice how Elon doesn't want to audit the military industrial complex. DOGE audits everything, even the treasury, but not the military industrial complex which is actually wasting a lot of taxpayer money.
Thank God, he will come to his senses. Next get the UN out of the US.

In his defense, back then he had a lot more opposition that could stop it. Now it's actually doable as republicans control both the house and the senate too.
Problem is, the consequences may not be as expected. NATO, despite it flaws has a lot of leverage over member countries which will vanish overnight if the US leaves. For starters, millions of jobs will disappear as EU/EEA countries start buying domestically produced weapons and military equipment instead of made in USA stuff. Even Canada and Mexico is looking to buy European stuff.
I'm not gonna speculate into potential savings or cost increases, but I don't think it'll be "Gods gift to the people" like some people paint it up as.
Long term, it's gonna be great for European military contractors tho.

This would confirm that globalization is no more! I continue to believe that the the globalists biggest hurdle was the American Constitution! It provided so much power to it's people that no matter how many politicians, deep state actors, etc, they bought dismantling the rights of the people would take centuries!
