They're putting solar fields all over out where I live...right next to a chip factory being built on a wildlife refuge.1000's of trees were cut down for the fields and the local dairy farm has to haul in feed because they don't have enough. I don't know how this even makes sense let alone be "green".
BTW, those solar panels kill birds by the thousands. They don't discriminate they kill everything. Common and endangered alike. USELESS WASTE OF LAND RESOURCES. a small next generation nuclear reactor is one million times cleaner and safer.
If solar was really a solution then peoples' roofs would be leased and solar panels put on them. Destroying farmland and wildland is the exact opposite the point of "being green". This is all a hideous joke played on us by the elites.
Not against solar, but shouldn’t the panels be located on existing structures/ buildings and reserve the land for its intended purpose of growing plants, etc??
Hard to put maintenance trucks on the top of a building. Will always be cheaper to put them on the ground.
They belong in the desert and the mountains were the air is thin and the sun is brighter and it is too dry to grow crops.
But this stuff is fueled by pork barrel spending so they put it in random swing districts where it makes no sense because it is wet and cloudy all day and takes up good farm land.
Even in the desert they have no place, there are actual wildlife ecosystems there and the fragmentation of the natural habitat leads to the spread of invasive plants which are generally way more susceptible to wildfires than the native were. I live in the high desert out west and an area that was once called "the meadows", is now a solar farm tumbleweed jungle that has pushed out the pronghorn that used to covet the area
OR, Be purchased by china to feed china. Fuck off china, and stop bringing in deadly plants to damage and destroy our agriculture. They are consistently bringing in invasive species to hurt America's ability to feed itself. The invaders are here inside our country destroying our lands. All by design.
Or purchased by Saudis to grow alfalfa (requires lots of water and is located in "drought stricken" areas) for their farm animals in Saudi Arabia.
No foreign country should be allowed to purchase land in our country
Just reported by catholic podcaster Anthony Stine, this morning, China has purchased the 'catholic church'."The Holy Father made the appointment in the framework of the dialogue regarding the application of the provisional agreement between the Holy See and the People's Republica of China". This Globalist pope approves the Chinese appointed archbishop Lin Yutuan, in speading the 'gospel of china'. Lincoln warned "I do not pretend to be a prophet. But though not a prophet, I see a very dark cloud on our horizo. That dark cloud is coming from Rome" Matthew 23:9 "And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven"
I cannot recall where i read this, but there are solar panels (likely made in China) that leech chemicals into the soil...from rainwater and snow melting off the panels- very few solar panels are made outside of China because of cost
Michigan has been in overdrive on installing that evil, soil killing crap on our farms. I know guys that are working on site preparations are making $80 an hour. Stretching Gretchen has promised a 35% increase on our power next year.
I have to tell you the whole thing is soul killing. Don’t believe me, drive down I94 near M99 some time. It kills me that all the greenies have no idea what solar does to the land. It will never support life again. Solar forces our wild animals into the local towns where they are eradicated. I see solar as a disgrace and pray for people to wake up.
Rooftops, garages, barns, factories, storage areas. Solar is a great “free” energy source and there is really no harm in using roof space to harvest this energy.
The theoretical maximum efficiency of a single-junction solar cell is about 33.7%, known as the Shockley-Queisser limit. However, using multiple junctions can increase this limit, with some advanced designs potentially reaching efficiencies of up to 68.7% under ideal conditions.
If we can solve the 15-20% efficiency loss after 10 years (measured from install) that will go a long ways. Like anything else, technology advances. There is also the lattice electron entrapment that seems to happen after hours that causes a drop off. Problems for smarter minds than mine. But it seems to boil down to cost vs return.
Unless we make the hop to small modular nuclear, electric rates won’t be dropping anytime soon
I have a friend who lives in a big downtown area. She had always used an evaporative cooler to cool their house. All the people putting AC into their houses around her, which put out hot air to the outside... suddenly her evaporative cooler wasn't working as well to cool the house. So she had to put AC into the house.
We just took a road trip across the midwest, and the amount of huge windmills and solar farms we saw was ridiculous. You can't tell me those solar panels aren't affecting the temp in the area around them. Mirrors can start fires... solar panels are pretty much giant mirrors. Gosh, I wonder where "climate change" is coming from????
With agrivoltaics we can do both. A lot of crops benefit from some shading. But that means mounting the panels higher and leaving more space between which the bean counters won't do.
I've seen sheep being raised under them also. Theoretically, netting could be installed under them and free range chicken can be raised that way also. We need to continue looking for win-win solutions
I worked a job that was 100 acres of solar panels and it was the ugliest thing I've ever seen. The kicker? They had just closed down a nearby coal plant and needed such a large plot of solar to accommodate for the lost coal power - and, the output still wasn't anywhere near what it needed to be..... so yes, more hideous solar farms will be built.
Seriously. They're already significant flat, empty square footage that can host a lot of PV panels, and the panels themselves will provide shade for parked cars which, in turn, will lead to less need to run air conditioning to cool the interiors when people start them up midday or in the evening after work.
It's even more of a no-brainer than Harris/Walz. But, you know...like in a good way.
I live offgrid and rely fully on solar for my electricity. It is unmatched in this kind of situation. My whole solar panel array takes up about 20 square meters.
The monetary structure of my immediate family is also basically socialism. I earn all the money and it is distributed among my wife and kids according to their needs, and they are responsible for things that do not generate income.
Neither of these are correct for a large-scale group or system. Use the right tool for the job. What works for a family isn't right for a town, state, or country.

Someone in charge need to be sensible and I think Brooke is.
ABOUT F......ING TIME! No apologies for being passionate on this issue!
It's wild that we live in a time where people don't think farmers, who grow our food, are important.
I can grow enough to support about 30 people. Give most away. They're in for a rude rude awakening.
Amen

How dare you use logic!
Libs LOGIC IS DEFINITELY NOT THEIR FORTE'!!!!! Just sayin'!!!!!!
YES. There's technology where you do not need to put up panels.
OR, Be purchased by china to feed china. Fuck off china, and stop bringing in deadly plants to damage and destroy our agriculture. I know it and you do too.
I cannot recall where i read this, but there are solar panels (likely made in China) that leech chemicals into the soil...from rainwater and snow melting off the panels- very few solar panels are made outside of China because of cost
I read that also. I also have friends in WA who put in their own and the battery is not worth shit in storage and the savings, not worth it.
Def not enough sun in the PNW to make a viable option...
Definitely.
Nor subdivisions with condos...... Stop turning our fields into useless dirt
Amen.

There's technology where you only need a spray to turn your windows into solar panels.
Even if solar panels are somehow an answer to energy problems, they should never occupy productive farmland.
Correct.
Rooftops, garages, barns, factories, storage areas. Solar is a great “free” energy source and there is really no harm in using roof space to harvest this energy.
But sacrificing land seems frivolous and wrong
My issue with them on those places right now is the fact that they're super inefficient, and that they're still mostly made overseas.
The "best" we have right now is 25% efficiency, not good enough.

There is a technology where you just spray the windows and no need for the panels.

I saw the ridiculous windmills everywhere in WA
I-40 in west Texas is the same thing with wind turbines. They have ruined a nice drive, they are ugly as fuk.
Should see the drive from WA and windmills
And the oil from them seeping into the ground and the birds
They have a larger carbon footprint than they get from the "free" energy.
Its all just a scam to loot the taxpayers l

Good idea.
I like to see farms
I worked a job that was 100 acres of solar panels and it was the ugliest thing I've ever seen. The kicker? They had just closed down a nearby coal plant and needed such a large plot of solar to accommodate for the lost coal power - and, the output still wasn't anywhere near what it needed to be..... so yes, more hideous solar farms will be built.
Welcome.
Are the cost of the solar panels subsidized either at installation or when production starts? If so, that needs to stop.
Subsidized.
Solar panels over parking lots. End of discussion.
It's a win/win situation. They hate those.
New tech. Spray for windows
Finally!
Amen.
Yes.
Agree.
Farmers operate on razor thin margins especially now.
Yes.
Not everyone could.
Does make you wonder. You clearcut a forest to make a farm. Then you think. Oh I can put solar panels here.
But those trees were generating a resource as well by absorbing sunlight
There is a house in the forest near where I live which clear cut a section and put solar panels in a long a hill. Did just this
Yes.
Why?
We need both food and energy.
We have enough capacity to feed a population of 450 million.
What's the issue?
I would rather see farmland
We have a giant amount of farmland.
It's not going away
Use them for farming.
All farms must be owned by Americans, not foreigners. There should be a law about this…how about it Congress?
Right.
If a farmer can take poor farmland and make more money farming the sun (without subsidies), what's wrong with this?
