This is sad.
I helped my Gen Z write her first resume.
The only time I ever talked to a (previous) manager was when she had quit and they never gave her her final paycheck and were not responding to her calls. I was an HR manager so I was successful in getting her check because I came armed with the state laws regarding final paychecks.
Exactly I use my Dad as a resource to proof read my resume and cover letter or if I have questions about how to deal with something at work. If you are 25+ having your parents be advisors is perfectly fine. But they shouldn’t be a crutch cause you can’t operate at all.
Methodology: This survey was conducted via survey platform Pollfish in July 2025. In total, 831 U.S.-based Gen Zers were surveyed. To qualify for the survey, respondents had to meet certain demographic criteria, including being employed full-time.
I wonder what other "certain demographic criteria" there were.
Yeah I call bullcrap on this. There's no way this is accurate. The moment you have specific criteria that aren't disclosed and a stupid small sample size (less than a thousand for a group that numbers in the 10 million plus range), you know it's a lie. The ONLY one of these I can see as being remotely accurate is help with writing a resume. Sometimes it's good to have a second or third opinion so you don't look like a moron for some simple mistake you overlooked.
The rest don't even make sense. How can you have a parent help you complete "work assignments" it isn't school you can't have your parents physically do your job for you. You also can't just have your parents show up to your work randomly, most places won't allow that. Likewise, I feel the one about 77% brought a parent to an interview is misleading. That could just include things like getting a ride to the interview, or something similar.
Most of this crap falls apart when you use any kind of basic common sense and reasoning on it.
Yup, complete bullshit. Gen Z is using Chat GTP to write their resumes.
If I had access to Chat GTP when I was in high school I would have received straight A’s. It’s scary how quickly you can have it return a 300 page novel based on prompts you give it. Imagine homework assignments. In the next 5 years the way we interact with the world is going to change rapidly. This technology is basically like when the cell phones really took hold of everyone’s lives. Or eBay or the internet or Bit Coin for 10¢. Hang on because it’s going to get wild.
The respondents to polls like this are usually self selecting too. Im not buying it either. Like they say garbage in, garbage out. I dont believe any poll any longer, they are all crap, because the pollsters all have an agenda.
Clickb8 generational gay shit produced by boomies to win some sort of "culture war" because they are the real children and can't stand to lose control of a society they destroyed. Not Q related and reported
Are they including eg 15 year olds who get their parents to drive them to the job interview as attending the interview with them? Or they mean in the room with them as well.
As a millennial I find this hard to believe. I’m the oldest and my bro is gen z (youngest). I thought that millennials were the parents who treated their kids like this. We had uninvolved and strict ass parents, idk maybe that’s just my toxic family dynamics
Yes Genz needs to do something about it. But I see this as equally the parents part for joining in. See I see 31% of parents are willing to write their kids resume for them.
77% went with their kids to the interview
53% of parent spoke to the managers instead of telling their kid to handle it themselves.
Etc etc.
This behavior wouldnt be happening if we didnt have a bunch of WEAK PARENTS who would rather baby their kids until they die then let them fail or feel bad or have to handle shit alone for once.
Both need to say enoughs enough.
Edit: Let's stop destroying the next generation before they have had a chance, lets build them up and say this is not okay behavior but you are capable because I was in your shoes and felt the same way. And parents back off the kids and let them have bad experiences reguarding work. Its never gonna be a perfect time.
Nobody helped me to write mine, I had to do everything myself, my parents were educators and we learned to be independent. Back then we didn’t have online nothing, we had to look for our jobs and go to places specially if you didn’t have a car, I had to go under the rain heat and bad shoes, but it made me stronger. What is going on with the parents nowadays?
This is sad.

Yeah I don’t think helping your kid write a resume is bad but the other stuff definitely is.
I mean my first job was at 16 and my Dad helped me write mine.
My daughter's first job was at 16 so that's why I helped her. She was also 16 when her previous employer was refusing to give her the final paycheck.

That is insane. How do they even get hired if they bring their parent to the interview?
The parents are hot?
I mean if Barron, or any of Trump's other children, brought their parents to work for me, I would have a great time with that LoL
Outside of just being able to pick the brain of amazing leaders, I agree this is a problem.
🤣

Exactly
Yeah, its too exaggerated for my liking too.
Is this the generation that ate Tide Pods?
…among other acts of stupidity.
LOL, this cant be true... Who would hire somebody that brought there parent to the interview /?
Its not. Clickb8 shit
I'd say "well, at least they're close to their parents", but that's not really parenting. More like enabling and infantilizing.
Funny side note: my daughter is great at resumes and does them for everyone in the family - I suck at them so it's a nice perk 😹

and this is the generation that will be running this country one day.......glad i wont be here
Don't worry, they'll keep you alive to talk to their managers for them.
Not mine . Already talking about " the estate". At least the other 2 deserve it.
Bs
What’s scary is these idiots will running our country one day. Voting for Socialism and free shit.

I hear helicopters.
Oh my God...tell me this isn't real...
Uh.... I dunno about all that. Seriously - they're in the parking lot, waiting room or actually IN THE INTERVIEW ROOM?

Bring a parent to an interview? How would the person conducting the interview not laugh hysterically?

I'm glad I have never once encountered this.
The broccoli hair really says it all.

I know this happens, but an image of a Word document or whatever this is with no source is tough to believe such percentages.
Did you look at the source I put in the comments?
I missed it completely. Thank you.
