My friend who is an American Airlines captain just told me people are getting fired. They are told their social media is being monitored and this is a zero tolerance no exceptions policy. This does not infringe their freedom of speech, companies are allowed to fire those who do not allign with the mission statement or bring negative publicity. This is happening at hospital, it’s happening in schools, the silent majority isn’t silent anymore.

And yes they can be very effective.... For the categories that they apply to. Celebrating someone's death however is not one of those.
This post isn't about defamation however. It's about just plain conduct and decorum and how individuals reflect upon the company that they work for which has nothing to do with lawsuits.
This is public and financial pressure. The number of people that we've gotten fired in the last 72 hours and the number of companies that have had to apologize for their employees speaking out of turn has corporations scared. They don't want to have their companies associated with any of the backlash happening right now.
These people are dumb. I learned a long time ago to never put in writing anything you wouldn't say out loud...

It's a glorious thing to see finally. I dont mean people losing their jobs but the return of common decency and sense. I had to live in fear about not getting the vax, for 4 months while my religious exemption was reviewed and I work from home as a nurse care manager. So, yeah and it's not cancel culture like they did digging up crap from years ago on people's character. This is common human decency.

I’m afraid like the patriot act and 911 this will take away more of our freedoms don’t get me wrong. This is a horror. I love Charlie like all of us. He actually went to my church. He was there all the time and good friends with my pastor , we weren’t best friends, but I knew him personally, and like all I loved him , however, I feel like the government was involved in this someway or other, and we will lose more of our freedoms over it.

I agree this is a double edged sword. I just had a long discussion with a friend his position is that if you go around yelling, the N-word you get fired. I see his point. The conversation took a lot of different turns I feel that you have to give your enemy a golden bridge, and we are creating a group of evil people with nothing to lose in an axe to grind. This is always a consideration that we must keep in mind. We must be rational and consider the consequences. However, a check on out of control inhumanity was needed. I believe our point has been made and it is making a difference. That is where it needs to stay and let things settle down. Definitely no government action should be taken. Society needs to sort this out. Smith-Mundt needs to be reinstated but only with regards to the media.
These people can work on their own silencing while looking for another job. We'll maintain freedom of speech as long as benefits and consequences exist ;)
