By what authority? Because it certainly isn't the Constitution. There is no power granted to the President to do this. Even Congress can't do this, even though they are the branch with the power delegated to declare war. War cannot be declared for foreign interventions.

President Trump seems to be bluffing that he’s willing to get himself played and get involved, as he knows well how often in the past the US has messed up by getting involved in foreign regime change. What happens in Iran is irrelevant to the US government’s violent tax collection from American citizens and the military’s authority over US service people’s lives that should be committed to defense and not foreign adventurism. Americans are free to volunteer privately their own lives or money if they want, but they do it at their own risk.

I support this. Because I remember Iran the way it was when my friends lived there, before the mullahs took over. The oppression does need to end. It is evil. People seem to be intentionally pretending to lack clarity about what it means to stop Christian protestors from being shot down in the streets.
That is what we are supposed to do in the world. Protect Christians. It is not to install anyone in Iran it is to enable them to put the former shah's exiled son in power. That is what they want. If it turns out to be some other regime bullshit I will be the first to say we should have minded only our own business.

Missing an O - Q drop?

Liberating Iran in a support role to the people would be a good thing. It also would be the opposite of what Israel wants. Most of the Persians are Zorasterian and not Islamic - or not radical Islamic anyway. There was a real chance for their freedom during Bush (2004'ish) and Obama (2011'ish), but they offered NO support to the people. A free Persia (Iran) could be a very good ally to the US and trade well with all of central Asia. Persia has been around for 7,000 years.
