Since last Thursday I've been laid up in my house with an ailment that has my sinuses blocked and green phlegm coughing up. I've taken all sorts of medicines to help reduce the symptoms: Allegra, sudafed, BC powder, NiteQuil, and i might be going on an antibiotic if things don't change. Nothing seems the help so im asking if ya'll have any ideas on how to get rid of this crap.
I think it started when on Wednesday I turned over my compost pile. It took me eight hours to accomplish that task because i have so much compost. Then Thursday I raked a small area just below the compost pile, cut the stubble down with a lawn mower, and then transfered the remains up to the compost pile. Four hours of that activity.
Got back into the house and began feeling crappy, sinus stuffy, snotty, and lethargic. Four days later I figured it would have run it course but it is tenaciously hanging on. Got any suggestions on how i can get relief? Thanks.
Sounds like a sinus infection.
Consume ABSOLUTELY - NO DAIRY! infection thrives on it more than anything else
The phlegm is the body's way of protecting your sinus tissues. It is a symptom of the infection.
Take care to follow - "First, do no harm" - In other words, try not to irritate your sinuses with anything that is going to irritate them.
Hot/warm compresses on your face + face/head massage will help to break things up. When you have a sinus infection, it is ill advised to take OTC pharmaceuticals as they fight your body's natural healing response & do zero "healing" only symptom reduction.
Gargle with salt water to flush your Eustachian tubes in your ears, move your ears while doing so without swallowing.
Hot clear liquids - beef/chick broths are good and clear juices. HYDRATION for your "inner landscape" is very important.
If you can stand it, warm water & netti pot to flush out your sinus cavity - but again - do no harm. Follow your intuition.
Get better!
Never underestimate a seemingly harmless allergy coming on because they can turn into monsters.
You have a sinus infection along with God only knows.
Get these immediately
You need nature's most powerful antibiotic.
Oil of oregano.
Also goldenseal along with echinacea.
At least 800 mg of quercetin and 175 mg bromelain and do not forget the bromelain plus 50 mg of zinc.
Always start any sickness with ivermectin, either the paste or pills. Honestly, you shouldn't need anything else after that.
Always ivermectin first works for me
👏👍
It sounds like you inhaled something from the compost. Legionnaire's disease or Aspergillosis. I would get some ivermectin and/or hydroxychloroquin. Follow the Covid protocols on this board.
AKA Gardener's lung.
This is what I was genuinely worried about during the COVID-19 madness back in the day, that people would be infected with Legionnaires Disease from their unwashed masks and then they’d REALLY have some serious problems. It is not to be underestimated at all.
It is an infection.
Colloidal Silver in a nasal sprayer. Give your sinuses a couple of shots a few times a day. I suffer from recurring nasal infections, as well as allergies, and this is the best non-pharma treatment I have found. My wife suffers from allergies, as well, and it works for her, too. You can gargle with some, too. If I get that itchy, scratchy throat that usually precedes a cold it really helps.
This. In saline. Also can be nebulized straight.
Garlic. Chop it up and swallow like pills. When i have something going on i do 4 cloves in the morning and 4 cloves in the evening before bed.
The more you chew and the more allicin you receive fren. Good powerful stuff
I didn’t realize that! Thanks!
+1 for garlic, though I cut the cloves in thirds, then gently chew one a time until the "garlicness" is mostly out of the fiber, then slowly chew the fiber and swallow it.
Definitely an acquired taste, but fixes/helps a lot of issues.
I am hearing that I’m not getting as much goodness out of it because I’m not chewing. I’ll do that!
I have fermented honey garlic too. Always lovely
Mine has been going on for two weeks. Just treat the symptoms like you have been doing and consume a lot of liquids. I’m feeling better but I will get energetic, accomplish something, and then get wore out feeling again.
I hope you get to feeling better. Misery loves company.
4 days? That’s really not that long…but I would consider starting antibiotics.
Amish fire water... Doesn't require steeping like fire cider. Really helps break up snot. I also invested in one of those cheap wet saunas off Amazon and absolutely love it for cold season.
How to Make Amish Fire Water
Ingredients: 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon sea salt 1/2 cup boiling water 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar (raw, unfiltered)
Stir the cayenne and sea salt into the boiling water until dissolved. Add the apple cider vinegar and stir again.
To Use: At the first sign of nasal congestion or a cold, I take 1 tablespoon every 15 minutes for the first hour, then 1 tablespoon hourly until the whole batch is gone. One batch lasts a typical adult about 6 to 8 doses.
Netipot. High doses of zinc (30-40mg) if it's beginning of cold. NAC (not sure on dosage since fire water and other remedies above always worked for me) Bathtub with Epson salt, baking soda
I’m writing this down!
Sounds like serious allergies
Have you tried a salty Broth?

Try EGCG: Green Tea extract+zinc (chelated zinc picolinate or glusinate is best bioavailable form). EGCG in GTextract opens up cell and then injects the zinc. Zinc destroys the replication enzyme polymerase. Works in 2 hours if fast metabolim, 4 hours typical. EGCG is one of 4 known zinc ionophores (i.e. cure for common cold). It destroys all cold, flu, corona virus-based bioweapons (Type II bioweapons). Smallpox, etc. is Type I bioweapon, fyi.
Cost for 1 bottle of each is ~$10-15 total, available at most grocery stores such as Grocery Outlet. Double dose of green tea extract for serious cases. It only takes a little bit of zinc injected. Only known side effect of too much EGCG is similar to too much Vitamin C: temp diaharrea to flush excess from body.
Could be f you breathed in the mold from the compost. I am not a doctor but mold can cause significant allergies.
Ivermectin
What is odd is my son developed the same condition at about the same time. BUT...he was not outside with me. He was encamped in his room and we only shared a day together going to some of his favorite stores in town. I wonder if with me sneezing and coughing he caught what I have. Maybe he sniffed some mold spores that shed off of my work cloths in the house and he walked in the area and breathed in whatever caused my condition.
I appreciate everyone's suggestions on how to cure this. I've decided to take a 500 of Amoxicillin capsule 3x a day. Hopefully this will kick in soon and I'll be seeing some relief by tomorrow morning.
If it's green, it's probably an infection. You probably "smelled" whatever was in the compost (odor contains microscopic bits), and have bits of it in your nose, sinus, maybe lungs. A NeilMed sinus rinse with a squeeze bottle may be able to flush some of the crud out of your nasal passages. It would need done at least twice a day, maybe more. Green or yellow junk coming out usually means an antibiotic is needed, at least it has in my very allergy ridden past. Wash your bedding, clothing, and make sure to take a shower, washing your hair. Odors like mildew and other things can stick to hair and clothing, so when you lay in bed, it gets on the bedding. Then you sleep in it every night.
Thanks fren for the guidance.
Ivermectin(viral) and oregano oil(bacterial). Look up oregano oil as an antibiotic, I buy the oregano oil pills from Amazon. This has kept me and my children basically cold/sickness free for the last 3+ years
Try Ivermectin+chelated zinc for powerful anti-cold (zinc ionophore 2 of 4). Oregano oil/extract might also be a zinc ionophore or have similar effect as zinc in cells destroying polymerase replication enzyme or just direct destruction on contact with bacteria/viruses like collodial silver. Silver plated door knobs and handles in hospitals would likely eliminate most infections picked up there, by the way. This concept can be used at home for enterprising individuals that know how to do electrostatic plating/coating of metal components such as door knobs and handles. Copper works as well.
For all that nasty drainage, I suggest you cut up an onion (any type), put onion pieces in a jar (up to 3/4 full) and cover it with raw honey. Cover and let sit on the counter. In a few hours, you'll notice that the honey is thinner in consistency and you can start using it. Take a tablespoon of the liquid several times a day. It will loosen the secretions, aiding with sinus drainage and making it easier to cough out nasty secretions. It will soothe your throat. Hope you find relief and healing soon.
Fungal / mold spore sinus infection. Activex Perfect Nasal/ Sinus. Phone company and see if you can get emergency rush shipping. In the meantime take the ivermectin horse paste.
Going through the same crap. After you are done with Activex drops, then get Lanto company sinus powder you make a rinse with ( mix with DISTILLED water and a little salt) the powder is the strain of probiotic that sinuses need.
My wife went through this for about 6 weeks this year! The pollen here in NY has been horrible! She developed some symptoms of bronchitis and ended up taking antibiotics. That seemed to knock out whatever got into her lungs, but she was still suffering the sinus issues. She only recently FINALLY seemed to get through it.
PSEUDO 60 / TRIPROLIDINE 2.5MG TABLETS
"Take one tablet by mouth every 6 hours as needed for congestion."
Lots of garlic is my starting point for anything, generally.
😕 Unfortunately I do not like the taste of garlic. I believe in it's healing properties, just cannot get past the taste. But I appreciate the advise!
Good God. From the sound of it, you may well have stirred up mold or fungus spores, which you inhaled. You really ought to see a doctor and have those possibilities either confirmed or ruled out.
Worse than a sinus infection is the possibility of a lung or bronchial infection. You may need to get a chest x-ray to determine whether your are experiencing any pleural or lung edema. That would be extremely bad news, especially if you are distant from a hospital. (I've had pleural edema, it can knock you down in a day and then kill you. Imagine having more than a gallon of fluid in your chest cavity...and your lungs and heart are trying to find living room left over. That happened to me last November. The ER took most of a day to determine I was not suffering from a heart attack or heart failure, agreed that it was edema and gave me a shot of furosemide to start the diuretic process. It took me over an hour, but I peed out that much, to make me feel a lot better.)
Contrary to most of the otherwise good home treatment advice on this page, you really should have this examined professionally. You absolutely need to know what you are dealing with. If it is serious...You Have Only One Chance. Don't delay. Don't wait for tomorrow. Yeah, it's inconvenient to go to the ER...and it is no inconvenience at all to be dead. I'm sure your family would rather avoid spending money on funerals and caskets, instead of begrudging any ER inconvenience. I've gone through those hesitations. They are stupid. You don't gamble against death.
