several coworkers were telling me how the CSA (Chinese Student Association) from their respective universities (different ones) were sending emails offering to pay anyone to travel to SF to wear red and bring a Chinese flag to wave. They also offered to pay the day's meal expense.

that's probably a zipcode or set of zipcode. Google probably has automation to map out boundaries for emergency events by pulling the zipcode of the event

People in California are psychologically programmed to hate Trump. It's worse in silicon valley. Trump and any conservative views have become villainized. Say anything about supporting Trump and you'll be shunned/hated.. say anything that seems to go against LGBTQ and you are immediately labeled a racist hater.

The people in the missing Titan submersible have been sealed in the craft with at least 17 dead-bolts, and the only way to get them out is to find and open up the vessel.

Except, that wouldn't help in a military strategy. You'd just cause a ton of deaths for non-military people (people not involved), and then stir up more patriotism for family members of victims to join the war effort

First race wars, and now gender wars. I find it amusing that the liberal efforts to push "inclusivity" is actually fueling race wars, gender wars, and exclusivity. Sad world we live in.

I have a friend in a startup company. That company has their entire cash holdings locked up in SVB. The company isn't sure how they are going to pay their employees, and he's worried too.

Dept of Energy includes a bunch of research labs that get funded for energy research and physics projects, but because those researchers are so damn good at what they are doing, they also funnel money into projects that are more questionable (as energy projects if under public scrutiny but still relevant to national security) and more targeted towards supporting the military.
