For many people who have been blessed enough to experience religious/spiritual epiphany, the lowest point in their lives is separated from the highest point by 30 seconds or so. It is a common theme, "I give up" is the catalyst for tears of joy, grace that heals instantly and a godly perspective that changes everything.
Human consciousness is about to expand dramatically, it's a wave begging to be caught and ridden, because God knows, we have done the hard yards waiting for this bunch of sleepers to finally begin living examined lives.
I cried once for an ex-girlfriend, and then I could not understand why I was enjoying the experience. Everything changed after that and it took about a decade to subside. I would float around 2 inches off the ground, in absolute bliss happy to yield right of way to a seagull or a gnat. Grief transmuted to love. Separation transmuted to love. Loss transmuted to love. The love was like mana from heaven, rendering me whole, I wanted for nothing, filled with a torrent of joy.
It was a long come down, 15 years of waking up a bit less godly every day. I can feel it pulling again.

Religious/spiritual epiphanies are real, sublime and transformative. The two experiences I have been fortunate enough to undergo of this nature were both precipitated by break ups of long term and cherished partners. This is the only consolation I can offer you.
That in our times of most suffering we are somehow not only closer to God but also, afforded an opportunity to experience a massive expansion of consciousness. The experience can fill you with so much love that feelings of separation, loss, grief can be transmuted into joy, gratitude and grace living within.
