Don’t be such a fudd. No one has carried the .45 in any appreciable numbers since the Vietnam war. In fact, the pipe hitters wanted the Glock 19 so badly they had to jump through crazy bureaucratic hoops to get it. They simply wanted the ultimate in ruggedness and reliability when their lives were on the line.

But that doesn’t explain why Jews, facing a non-friendly (to say the least) government in Germany wouldn’t have happily migrated to a dozen other countries. Palestine/israel would have been far down the list. The idea that “a Rabbi” in London (especially considering that Judaism doesn’t have a central religious leader like the pope) seems to stretch credulity.
I don’t think someone addicted to crack should own a gun. I don’t think someone convicted of a violent felony should have the right to own a gun.
All constitutional rights have limits - we have a right to free speech, but (even at the time of adopting the 1st amendment), there were many examples of legal limits on speech, even making some speech (i.e. fraudulent speech) a crime.
