The first quote is from Beyond the Black River by Robert E Howard, that is who created Conan in the 1930s, native Texan as well
The second is alao from him, Queen of the Black Coast which is also another short story.
These are all 50-80 pages long and what the Conan comics, movie, games, etc take their lore from and expanded upon
