I'm sure I'll draw hate for this but I live in DC. 20 Jan was a weird weather day - it started overcast, then a short round of snow flurries, then the wind kicked up and the clouds started to break and skies became partly cloudy. Temps were upper 30s in the morning to mid-40s by noon.
You do have to admit, though, the sun switching sides can't be explained away by clouds. We're talking a matter of hours shift in the direction of the sunlight in less than 30 minutes.
So far this is the most compelling evidence that I've seen to date.
On another note, I had no problem getting an inauguration invitation for Trump from my friend who works on Cap Hill. I tried to get one for Biden and he said he hadn't seen any, nor had anyone else. Take it FWIW.
Not with direct sun, but at the time of the switching light, the first photo of which isn't very strong, light was being filtered through clouds - indirect. Hard to say. I'm not dismissing, just saying there are a lot of factors involved.
Clouds don’t change the direction at which the light is incoming from.
They block light from the direction of the source, though, giving ambient light or light reflected from elsewhere a more pronounced effect.
To add on: the change in light would change the exposure of the camera making ambient light appear much brighter
The Capitol building faces West. In the winter the sun will always be from the South (there is no time of the year where it comes from the north). In these pictures the South is on the right. There can be no sun switching.
There can be diffusion of light in the clouds. There can be artificial light. But there can be no sun on the northern side of the building without flipping the Earth upside down.
I don’t like it but you’re right this is not clear cut evidence.
Hard evidence would be seeing them between takes, object continuity, different video of the same event, display anomalies.

You can see them during the overhead shots when the camera shows Kamala. They are consistent with where the sun is later in the video

It struck me as odd, as here in England there was a very quick announcement saying that the current programme was being interrupted so that 'we can go to the Presidential inauguration, which is starting now' or words to that effect.
This was BBC 1, which is the main channel in the UK, not a hidden away down the list kind of place.
The BBC always make such a fuss about these things it did not sound right that they would have got their timings wrong?

It was very windy (10-20mph sustained w/ 40mph gusts) that day and started out cloudy then partly cloudy then mostly sunny. I live in the area. Not saying it wasn't recorded, just explaining the change in cloud coverage.

Yeah, this is not compelling to me. Weather varies, especially over a period of several hours such as would have been the case. Clouds move, some block the sun then move, others pass by and block it again. Meh. This does not convince me.

That's plenty of time for clouds to move and block the sun, but in all likelihood, a lot of photos were taken before and after, as well as during. Regardless, an hour and 15 is enough time for the weather to change from cloudy to sunny or visa versa.
