I saw the time-lapse of the tracking info and it looked like the Captain moved over to the left before turning full to the right - to get a better angle on blocking the canal?

From my understanding of the canal. A canal pilot embarks the ship to pilot it through. Could it be a white hat taking over a cabal ship and wedging it into the canal?
If you look at the original videos of the Evergreen getting stuck in the Suez Canal, there seems to be very little wind blowing.
Sandstorm? On the videos, there is clear visibility and no apparent blowing sand. You can even see the flag on the Evergreen and, although it is blowing, there isn't a lot of wind.
No... that would hardly be the explanation. Likely they took the higher winds from a few hours later and claimed that caused the ship to crash into the bank.

If I wanted to jam a boat into the side of the canal I would definitely speed up, move over to the left and then steer hard right to get the best chance of digging in to the side, rather than glancing off it.
Which is exactly what this boat did.
Then factor in the ass-dick tracking info, this is a message and was deliberate. Cutting the power would not automatically result in such a mess, these boats don't turn easily, they have a lot of momentum. It didn't drift i to the side, it was steering into the side.

A ship with a heading of NNW that is hit with a wind gust coming from the SSW wouldnt turn the way it did. That wind would have pushed it in the opposite direction. Quartering away from the wind would have pushed the stern counterclockwise.

Agreed. I reckon it would take a strong wind coming from NWN to push the nose to the East, but even then it would be mostly drift...that sucker was turned into the bank.
And with a huge bulb on the end of its keel that is 15 meters below the water line.
