The brothers behind it also did a movie called Jupiter Ascending. It got worse reviews but it’s a movie that describes Earth being assailed by aliens who are farming humans for essentially adrenochrome. Using humans to create some sort of Serum that prevents aging. Also they have genetic mutant half man half wolf trans-humans and shit.

Kinda makes me wonder how much inside information they have.

It’s the same plot that’s been written about since Plato’s The Republic. All the way to Aldous Huxley and beyond.

So with the fact that they’ve done The Matrix Trilogy, and they did Jupiter Ascending about the adrenochrome and gene splicing I would say they are definitely privy to the wrong crowd.

Just remember, like Aldous Huxley, or Plato even, some of these works of fiction are not George Orwell warning people, these Huxlian Platonic types are cheering on these new world. Some of these people want this future. The Wackoski brothers are pro-transhumanism obviously.

So just remember sometimes what you think is an awesome critique of the world is sometimes unironically cheering on the dystopian future.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t or shouldn’t learn something from it.

i think its important to pinpoint the time when that happened. i originally took it confirmation that we are living in the matrix an it wa their punishment for revealing it like they did. but no. it now seems more likely that after V the deep state did that to them. a computer wouldnt do that

^^^^ THIS.

all you need is the first one for educational purposes.

I decided my eight year old was ready for it, for one scene alone.

"If you are not one of us, you are one of them." Woman in the red dress scene.

It laid the groundwork for his understanding that not every normie is ready to be awakened. And we need to be careful who we talk to because certain things can turn the normies into Agent Smiths.

Second and third are not worth it unless you are a programmer.

On a side note - the wachowski brothers are now sisters and fucking looney tunes.

Whatever you do - don’t watch Jupiter ascending unless you wanna see two faggot directors clammering over Channing Tatum painted blue w glitter as a fairy

▲ 6 ▼
– DarthVadar9 6 points 4 years ago +6 / -0

The 2nd and third were severely delayed if I recall correctly due to one of the stars dying "in a plane crash." Aliyah, who was married to R Kelly for a bit at age 15 or some shit before they annulled it. Strange happenings but Matrix in real life like. They did use way too much CGI in those films however. The Wachowski bros are now the Wachowski sisters.

Only the first half of The Island is worth watching. Once they break out, it turns into a very bad hollywood chase movie.

There's lots of movies like this. Sucks that filmmakers have to compromise a good premise like this.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– quila62 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

you are probably right - it has been a while but the premise was great. Maybe someone will remake it with a better ending

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– p8riot 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

Best odds are with an independent studio. Hollywood is a strange beast. I feel like some movies don't get made unless they include lowest denominator crap. "In Time" is another one like that. There are so many. Maybe studios just buy/steal the premise and give it to their puppet directors to finish it off.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– dmgice 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

Maybe "Never Let Me Go" is probably a bit closer to what you want? Same premise and much less hopeful.

People forget that, at the end of 1984 (the movie), the Party breaks the main character and this is supposed to be seen as a "good" ending.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– p8riot 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

Thanks for the suggestion. I feel like it had just enough hope to make you keep watching, only to delicately disappoint. Much less hollywood and feels truer to the premise.

Such a good metaphor for how we fight so hard to get normies to open their eyes and wake up, but they fight us back, REFUSING to just put on the damn glasses, to even look. They’d rather eat the trash can.

FIrefly/serenity is so good. Love Joss' work. Knowing what I know now, he has many story lines telling us about the Cabal.

Buffy has a college fraternity that makes sacrifices to a demon for power and wealth.

Angel has a demonic council that runs the world through a law firm and spells of illusion.

Serenity has the government putting chemicals into public consumption that turns them into monsters or kills them.

I'm sure there are plenty more examples.

I vote for every movie based on a Philip K. Dick story.

-Blade Runner -Minority Report -Paycheck -The Adjustment Bureau -Total Recall -A Scanner Darkly

Less dystopian future stuff, more "what makes us human" stuff. Free will is a central theme in much of his work.

I guess you could make the case that the red-pill vs blue-pill is a great scene that drives a point home. The premise of the movie doesn't make any sense. That the computer AI is growing all these humans in pods and providing a virtual world for them because they want the human bodies to generate energy. That makes no sense at all. There are tons of ways to generate electricity, and sapping them from humans in pods is about the least efficient system imaginable.

The movie is both very cool and very silly at the same time.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– MAGA_Patriot_1776 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

Agree, but I thought humans had to be used because the sky went dark due to a global fallout, similar to the asteroid that wiped out the asteroids. No sunlight, plants died, etc. But feeding the pods still allowed humans to survive and produce energy?
