Its not just smarts. They provide a cardboard sandwich and $15 per day as payment so juries are typically the bottom tier of society intentionally.
Hm. Everywhere I've worked has provided full salary (one requested I remit the miniscule bit of jury duty pay).
Net result has been one half day of being in a jury pool in (redacted) years.

Right. I'm only pointing out that in the event I'm called up many can serve without loss of job or income, so not all juries are dindus.

It isn't always that easy. I was on a jury recently and was told there were very specific people they wanted (me being one of them) and were not going to excuse them for (almost) any reason. Although, I kind of wanted to do it so I didn't put up a fight. Couple days away from work still getting my salary, I was ok with it.

Last time I was called it was 5$ a day and a public water fountain was available, doesn't even cover the gas for me to get there.
I actually have to PAY TO PARK when doing jury duty because they don't provide parking. Crazy, right?
IME, If you're summoned for Jury Duty you can't say I have a good job and opt out.
I was in a pool of 100+ potential jurors and the first 70 called were excused lol. It's easy enough to get out of.
If you want to say something and opt out, "Are you familiar with Jury nullification? If not I can explain..." Is all it takes.

Last time I was called up, I would've been tossed if they ever questioned me. My luck ran out though, as I had to sit through days of them questioning other jurors, and them getting thrown out by one side or the other, and I was left as an alternate. Then before the arguments commenced, the parties settled on the 3rd day. Sheesh!

Yeah, civic duty is real. Somebody needs to make sure justice is just. But the judges treat you like cattle, and the lawyers treat you like pawns.

Don't sign the contract to appear in court. It's called a notice to appear, or hire a lawyer. Both give contract to the court guaranteeing you will show up.
Also don't sign a traffic ticket. You can take it but don't sign. Signature is a promise to appear. Which because of then12 presumptions the courts hold you will be guilty until you prove innocence which you won't.
How do you get out of signing? I know a woman that refused to sign a ticket and the cop threatened to arrest her right there.

I agree, if this could be used by a defendant in a case get the case dismissed that isn't going to be good. Not like it matters much in Seattle, they hand out get out of jail free cards to almost anyone.
There may not be the brave voice of reason in the group. Although, the lawyers do their best job to make you see it in a fair context.
SIL was on jury duty a few months ago in snoho county. they did it all via zoom-- he was required to "sequester" himself while participating in jury duty.
My mom was up for jury duty as well, but as soon as she told them she was unvaxxed and not looking to get the vax they dismissed her. Honestly I'm glad though. That would have meant my elderly mom going to the biggest city in our state, all alone, for probably months on end getting cheap pay and probably having her life in danger.

I just served in Lewis County, WA. They didn't ask about vaccine status and we could take off our masks in the jury room. In court, we had to wear masks but we could request the lawyers and witnesses to take off masks so we could hear them. Lewis County is a little red island amidst a sea of blue.

5 of 50.. Was told they were supposed to not ask unvaxxed to show up, but the court had problems with the questionnaire system.

I am surprised how many here talk about getting out of jury duty but also complain that the justice system is so corrupt and twisted. I thought more would be wanting to participate to help make the system better. Jury boxes are one of the boxes in the fight for liberty.

It is good to know that there are few more of us here behind enemy lines in the Greater Seattle area. The number of parents posting this weekend about their little angels getting the jab at the first possible appointment had me looking for a new state to live in. I’m 51 and was called once about 26 years ago- but then was told I didn’t need to go. My son is 31 - been called 3 times and served twice..
I got the same thing in Texas - I served on a Jury prior & held the line to punish a Pedophile that the other Jurors didn't see much problem with. Got another summons and was asked a series of questions - was I susceptible to COVID - apparently not having the clot-shot makes you susceptible, so was dismissed.
HOW can they get away with this????
That actually is terrible. I'm in L.A. and last time I was called I got stuck on an attempted murder trial. I've been worried that I might get called and have to wear a mask. I will never take the clotshot.

Sorry, I thought the title was clear. this was personal experience. Happened today in Seattle. the reason for multiple potential jurors was clear. An announcement was broadcasted to the potential jurors, "All jurors who are not vaccinated please report with your things to the window, you are being dismissed."
