Maybe. I think this may be it's equal - or maybe even it's best....
At a minimum, this is certainly contemporary....
THE WRATH OF THE AWAKENED SAXON
by Rudyard Kipling
It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the Saxon began to hate.
They were not easily moved,
They were icy -- willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the Saxon began to hate.
Their voices were even and low.
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show
When the Saxon began to hate.
It was not preached to the crowd.
It was not taught by the state.
No man spoke it aloud
When the Saxon began to hate.
It was not suddenly bred.
It will not swiftly abate.
Through the chilled years ahead,
When Time shall count from the date
That the Saxon began to hate.
I had to memorize that poem in high school. I hadn’t thought about it in years, but it popped into my consciousness about 18 months ago. I went back and re-read it. It is simply one of the best poems ever written.
One night I dreamed a dream. I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord.
When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.
"Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I need You most, You leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
No lie I watch this video about once a week. So perfect.
I've actually used it to help "less aware" acquaintances understand Trump and the Maga movement. People who would vote for him but who don't know what makes him different or special because they haven't turned off fox news yet.
Does anyone happen to know if youtube video that's separately posted in the the twat, is the same video that's embedded in the twat? The link https://youtu.be/WstYMmsdFqo is marked "Private" and so it's unplayable, unless you're following that particular account or something like that.
Private for me also.
I don’t understand why someone would put a video on YouTube and make it private. If you are that concerned make your account private or don’t publish on YouTube.
Shakespeare:
Julius Caesar Act 3 Scene 1 - Caesar's verse "I could be well moved if I were as you........." - Stick to your guns
Hamlet ‘To Be Or Not To Be’ Act 3 Scene 1 - A perspective on the fallacy of suicide
Memorizing verse is good for the brain. But I really need to work on memorizing the Bible, to place it in my mind, and my heart which is good for the brain, and the soul.
Reminds me of an old, wildly popular postcard: a studious man asked a shallow, attractive girl if she liked Kipling, to which she replied, “I don’t know, you naughty boy, I’ve never kippled!”
This to me....is like Light to a Moth...I can watch it a Million times, and have...Even though I know what it is...I will click on it again...and again...and again.
Sums up the mindset and maturity level that differentiates the spineless/butt-hurt soy boys(/girls), special snowflakes, race-baiters, socialist/communist grifters, safe-place/basement dwellers and the like from "real" men (and women).
whew... driving today and listening to news was tough... there is a lot of bunk and a lot of "optical" noise being broadcast.... it is "challenging" to listen to...
One of the best poems ever written, imho. Beautifully presented. Thank you for posting.

Excellent.
Well I'm all that Bqnita, except that I am tired, lol
We all are fren, lean in, for I will help to carry you, and in my time, may I lean on you, and we will both be supported by God.
You just reminded me of Footprints In The Sand.

Amen Fren amen.
I really needed this today fren. Thanks for the postive post. God bless u
Thank you. Today: I will complain less, and be more patient. Thank you.
I've always loved this. When I was pregnant with my first son I decided I would read this poem at my boys' weddings.
My daughter had to memorize this in 4th grade and she did. Wonderful teacher in public school. They are not all bad.

Onions…..more onions. I miss him!
Always been one of my favorite poems. It resides on my desktop, and when I need a reminder, I click on it and read it.
Still my favorite montages. Bought a canvas of this for my wall.

I read the title of this post and realized it was about Trump before I even got to the video. And still, I tear-the-hell up when I see it again. Damn.
I LOVE THIS POEM paired with President Trump!❤️
My favorite! Thanks!
How in the AF have I never heard this before. This will be my daily affirmation until I can quote it flawlessly.
TY OP. This was stellar.
The poem you link to is one of the best, and really matches up with DJT the man.
I committed to memory as a youth great works that tended to inspire me, or give me prospective on life. I can still quote them from memory even now.
My favorites are:
Casabianca - Speaks to devotion, loyalty, and courage of a son to his father. Based on true story
Father Forgets by W. Livingston Larned. - I used to remember these lines when my son was young to remind me not to be critical to too demanding.
Tennyson's Ulysses - Courage, Determination, and Perseverance
Tennyson's The Voyage - Inspired me to dream beyond the city limits.

I'm waiting, Rudyard.
I’d like to see a Trump montage to this version of IF. Jocko fan here.

I have this poem printed and in a shadow box hanging on my son’s bedroom wall.
Wow i needed to hear that today, thank you for posting this!
This applies to literally ANYTHING any of you want to set out to do...

I always liked Michael Caine’s voice to this ......

Thank you. I can't believe, with 7 billion people on this planet, there is only one like President Trump...

So true. So moving.
