Yeah I have been wondering about Taiwan as well. My working theory is that Taiwan is a controlled opposition against China, and both Taiwan and China has deep state than needs to be eliminated. This upcoming war would be an excuse to wipe out the deep state in both countries and then unify them.

They have more than enough transports to coat Taiwan with soldiers after they bomb, missile and shell the crap out of them.
