If they take the bait, it becomes State's Evidence #1 in a big scandal expose. And when it comes to the clinch, bring out the copyrighted original and say "Well, sure. It was a work of fiction that we prepared long ago. Here's the evidence. (You guys are boobs.)" Instant laughingstock.
That may not be the exact way it plays out, but I have a hard time imagining Trump resisting the urge to plant some bait with a delayed-action fuse. Getting some juicy result is the surest way to satisfy the urge to snoop.
