Children should not have smartphones.
This was the stand-in host on the Faulkner Focus, this morning ( Julie something or other ). She was actually laughing how it was 'impossible' to keep her daughter from accessing what she wanted on the internet.
kids are going to find a way!
The very next segment was about Gavin Newsom and his wife spreading transgender theory through our schools. Her first comment was about parents should be able to determine what their kids learn in school.
SMDH
The left are labeled as morons when some of the biggest morons are representing the so-called conservative movement and media.
My Daddy used to tell me, "I'm not your friend, I'm your Father". We need to bring that back!
My daughter already knows she is not getting any electronic device until she's old enough to buy her own.
I must add- “And after you buy it, I am in charge of it as long as you are living in my house! “
That's the method I used with my kids for both phones and cars. I didn't pay for any of it. As teens they wanted phones so bad that they were willing to work to pay for them. Same for car insurance and gas.
Live this everyday. It is hard. It is easy to be their friend and give them everything they want
exactly
Honestly what we all know about the internet, we shouldn't let any of our kids on it.
How do you touch someone's bank account without access? Inflation.
How do you talk to kids when the parents won't let you? Internet/social media.
Do you believe practice makes perfect and that repition makes habits? Now you know why there's a 24/7 brainwashing campaign targeted at children.?
My daughter is almost 10. Asks if she can get on tiktok yet every couple months. The answer is NO. and thats it. Not hard.
She’s just gonna use her friends phone at school and you’ll have absolutely no supervision. Chances are she’s already in a few TikTok videos now, since she’s insistent on asking to sign up.
You sound like one of those parents that don’t actually parent.
The irony in stating the obvious and being realistic. You sound like a clueless lib that makes false deductions from little to no information.... No I’m not a parent, but I was a kid with two parents not too long ago, and I know how easy it is for kids to get on social media AT SCHOOL when their parents forbid it at home.
That’s the thing about being a parent - when you say no and they can get it from somewhere else, they just learn to stop asking you and get it from somewhere else. Like teachers, the vending machines at school, or a friend.
Where did I say that? Are you stupid or delusional? The whole point is regardless what standards you set, if a child wants to access something EASILY accessible, they will do so regardless.
When my 25 yo daughter was 11, she got a flip phone for emergencies. 2 weeks later, it was taken away. She didn't get another one until she was 18, and then she had to pay for it herself. Fool me once, blah blah.
Same age as your daughter and agree with your move. The addiction to social media is ridiculous nowadays.
Yes it is. Older stepson just gave his 11 yo daughter a smart phone and we haven't seen her face since. Screw that. Draining the brains of the alpha generation.
I'm just blessed to how I was raised since I was able to avoid a lot of those obstacles.
Keep paying it forward. Let the new generations be blessed. No modern generation has ever had such a chance to be closer to what we as humans were meant to be than this new one. Closer to God. It tears me up knowing now what I didn't know then, when my kids were young. If I had known, their lives could have been so different.
Don't be hard on yourself man. Just as long as you have learned from your previous experiences.
It does me no good if I can't affect others
I told my kids it’s China dumbing down American kids while their own kids study math and science. Their eyes got wide. They were terrified. Neither ask to use it.
Who is the parent in this relationship? A 10-year-old child is NOT the authority figure.
If the schools continue to teach transgender... then every parent should withdraw their kids from that school system and instead home school. The school system would quickly have to shut down 90% of their schools... because nobody is attending. :>)
But the parents want to be frieeeends with their kids.
I highly recommend Gabb Wireless. My teens have phones, can text and talk, but have no internet at their fingertips.
Easy solution, take her phone away and restrict internet access to her. Kids should not have a cell phone at least until 13.
And even then, the phone should only be used as a ... phone. To make calls & receive calls. Not as a computer.
TikTok will ban your account if it feels you are posing a credible threat to public safety or creating a nuisance.
Wonder what they could post to get removed as a nuisance
Give them a Jitterbug old folks flip phone. They won't pull out that thing in front of friends unless it's a dire emergency.
Lol, perfect phone for social media addicts that need to cut back. Kek.
I only use a landline phone at home. My internet comes through the phone line too. I don't have satellite or cable TV, so there's no other way to get internet.
Easy workaround, use your friends phone and social media during lunch or recess or even the lax classes like gym.
Maybe its because her mother and father are never home. They have “careers”. She was probably raised in a daycare starting at 3am every morning. Children are the product of the parents efforts.
I agree but the system is set up so both parents have to work. That being said my wife stayed home when my kids were little and now only works when they are in school, and we had to make great sacrifices. That is what people do not want to do
I frankly don't care what it is. This woman should not be on any network spreading hypocritical nonsense while claiming to be a voice standing against liberalism.
This all started when Parents became their kid's friend instead of their parent
I was on the internet 4-8 hours a day about when I was 10. Never really changed those habits. I am an incredibly passionate Christian and conservative anon. I am pretty sure a good percentage of us true anons grew up with no limits and an open web
I frequented
Usenet newsgroups Chat rooms The beginning of webcam chats Forums
I talked to people of all ages, a lot older than me, both genders. The conversations were not censored. The internet was a free and open wilderness where you could find anything
I think a very large portion of our base is technophobic in spite of the fact that we are supposed to be digital soldiers.
Tweens doing kpop dances or playing Fortnite or watching makeup tutorials does NOT equal becoming an instathot and doing drugs or becoming one of the tumblr genders
In fact, open a tween/teenage account yourself, see what content you get. Most of it is stupid challenges/jokes and dog/cat videos. The internet is a censored, crippled experience with no where near as much freedom as it had back then.
If the first thing your children do is try to find porn or start an onlyfans then that is on you.
American parenting is retarded, both traditionalist and modern. When the great awakening actually happens, a lot of you will be surprised just how wrong a lot of what as seen as right today is
Amen
Amen
There was no internet or home computers when I was 10. I was observing the evil in government when LBJ took over the presidency.
"Stupid challenges" have caused a lot of deaths. The internet is absolutely not censored. You can see anything you can imagine on it.
I'm old, but I'm not technophobic. But I am afraid of where AI is going. I have a kickass computer I built myself. But I don't use a cellphone (tracking device), as I don't care to be tracked or spied on. I have precautions on the computer.
The kids don't have to "try" to find porn. Other kids will tell them quickly enough about all the free stuff, such as Pornhub and Chaturbate. If you let kids play in a bad neighborhood, they'll see bad things. You can live in a nice neighborhood miles away from a bad neighborhood, but on the internet, the bad neighborhoods are always right next door.
BTW, I still use Usenet newsgroups to download files, such as old radio shows. But you can easily go through the list of groups and see anything you can imagine, from regular porn to much worse.
Children should not have any devices that they can access along until they are 10 or 12. Then their use should be under parental controls and checking. If there is a violation, stop their unsupervised use entirely. If they have to do homework on a computer, watch them the whole time.
Well, I can't keep my wife off tiktok
There's that
It's completely irrelevant.
Just an observation.
Doesn't make much sense as a plot twist.
Unless you're McG maybe
So apparently her daughter is holding her at gunpoint, and she can't discipline her.
She’s a Fox News host! How much intelligence do you think she has?
What she was probably REALLY doing was ADVERTIZING that her 10 yo daughter is on Tik-Tok.
You are probably correct, and if she isn't actually doing that, she has notified all the pedos where to find her daughter. Extremely wicked or extremely stupid.
Some of them are pretty intelligent.
Not this one, if she has given her 10 year old a phone with internet access.
Intelligence means mental horsepower. She's just lacking some information. Perhaps a lot of information.
Fox News has not represented the Conservative movement for a long time.
I'd say about since 9/11 and the cover-up of the wmd for Iraq
Children MUST have boundaries..
She's on the internet because "Everyone else is" and Parents to day are not grown up they are big kids themselves.
Right. Most parents don’t actually want to steward their kids, they want to be friends with them. It’s the parents fault.
No kid needs a phone.
PERIOD.
When you don't bother raising your own children you shouldn't be surprised when they don't bother listening to what you say. Sending your kid to school and otherwise ignoring them except to occasionally punish them or feed them is not "raising" your kid. Sadly most people don't raise their kids, and families are taught to be as divided as possible.
The state of families in our society is sad.
I've seen these parents all time in the grocery store. They're the ones, when their kids are a bit younger than this, pushing a cart with four toddlers hanging from the sides of the cart, one younger one standing inside the cart and all five screaming at the top of their lungs while the parent is completely oblivious. It's like a mobile painting of hell by Hieronymus Bosch.
I mean it’s true in a sense that they can just use their friends phone at school. Hell that’s what I did almost 15 years ago when I was that age to sign up for MySpace.. Mind you I had no phone nor knew the password to access the home computer, and was still on social media everyday.
Was it the following scenario?
* walks into store *
"Oh, no! Help me!"
* pulls out credit card *
"Somebody stop this madness!"
* brings home device and gives to child *
"Oh, the humanity! Save me!"
Children want to spend time online instead of with their parents because they have no actual relationship with said parents. I guarantee you this news anchor abandoned her daughter to a daycare in her formative years so she could have her precious career, and as a consequence of this she taught her daughter to not want or need her. And you wonder why she is the way she is?
We have a generation of kids being raised by amazon tablets and whatever is allowed on tiktok and youtube. parents in there 20s and 30s dont want to be bothered now.
Phones are harmful to kids' eyes. Looking at close objects increases the chance that they will develop myopia.
Kids can use the internet on a desktop computer connected to a big screen TV that they sit 6 feet back from. When I was a kid I had to sit 3 feet back from the cathode ray tube because EMFs. That may have accidentally saved me from myopia.
There is also the problem that modern internet services like Facebook, Tik Tok, and most others are engineered to be super addictive. You wouldn't give your kids cocaine, don't let them use Tik Tok.
Also those YouTube Shorts. Many of them are just Tik Tok videos copied to YouTube.
Very well articulated.
