I can't remember exactly but it wasn't a "happy ending" game series. These came out a long time ago and there were a series of them, firsr being in 2000. But it was the first I really heard about the Illmunati being "bad guys". They also brought up human vaccines and "mods" not quite working out the way people hoped except for the ones behind the scenes pushing them on people. Overly simple explanation of the gist.

In the following game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, one particular scene involves a choice to upgrade a brain biochip at a relatively ghetto clinic. The consequence of this action happens later in the game when you have to fight a boss. With the biochip upgrade, the boss becomes extremely difficult to beat because everything is distorted.
That experience was a big part on why I did not take the COVID vaccine, despite not knowing much about what's in the vaccine at the time. The similarities are eerie.
Everyone who took the upgraded biochip in-game, became rabid animals that had no conscious thought and attacked everyone who didn’t have the upgrade. This was during the climax of the game, and became the centerpiece of the sequel of the immediate aftermath, with everyone else become extremely prejudiced against those who lost control and killed people.
Yep, I tried to do the best I could to go non-lethal and I did okay at it...for a little bit. Then the drum feed rifle came out.
On a more serious note, every single one of those games was fantastic and very revealing. I have all of the loaded up and ready to play during my next "impromptu break," thinking like 7-10 days. That is assuming the black hats don't EMP all my stuff, at which point I'll be really sad.
