I’m not perfect by any means and am working to overcome a few problems that are not insignificant, but after what I’ve learned here and through Q, if God grades on the curve, I’m on pretty damned good shape to get into heaven or atleast in adjacent community.

No one measures up. Jesus is the only way (teaching, sacrifice, death, and resurrection). Your debt is paid if you repent, accept, believe, and follow. Let Jesus be your advocate and the Holy Spirit your navigator.
Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. 29Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: 30Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

You should post and comment here more.
Let's play Parse the Bible, that's always fun.
Reading scripture is always a great idea!
God does not grade on the curve. Nothing you can do, outside of believing and trusting in God will save you. You can be saved by His grace alone, if you repent of sin and accept His free gift.

Amen! It's as simple as asking Jesus to come into your life and accept Him as your personal Savior! He died so that we may Live for all Eternity with Him! ✝️🙏
Our Father loves us as we are, not as we should be. We are His Beloved Children! 🙌
God doesn't grade on the curve.
But wait! You are not without hope!
Thankfully - God sacrificed His perfect son, Jesus - so that if we Accept His sacrifice, our sin debt is repaid by the sacrifice of Jesus.
So if you accept that sacrifice of Jesus - ask for forgiveness of your sins - and you change the direction of your thinking (repent)...
Then according to the Bible, you will be saved.
Thank you ! On that note, Here's good news from Apologetix: Good News: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG0sdjwnsio
I thought He graded on a cross? 😉
That would be more like it..."our righteousness is like filthy rags...there are NONE righteous...no not one."
It is hard to believe in God's sight we could be as lost as some of the despicable, evil characters we have seen...but that is the truth of it...so thank God for the Cross and the blood that was shed to wash us white as snow which we acknowledge through faith...that is the ONLY righteousness that qualifies in God's sight....
And humble repentance
I once heard that the very fact that we TRY to please God, pleases God.
We are commanded to be godly, which is more than just trying to please God, but also knowing how to please God by knowing Him and what He commands of us.
Hahahahahaha! Yes he does! It’s called the atonement- we just celebrated Easter!🐣
The Atonement is the sacrifice Jesus Christ made to help us overcome sin, adversity, and death. Jesus's atoning sacrifice took place in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross at Calvary. He paid the price for our sins, took upon Himself death, and was resurrected.
Though it rightfully should be called Resurrection Day since the name Easter along with stupid eggs and bunnies have nothing to do with God and everything to do with the pagan godess Astarte/Ishtar/Isis
Amen!
Jesus is the only way bub. Appreciate the sentiment but God is only through Christ.
"If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." -- Will Rogers
Stupid quote.. Dude would rather spend eternity with dogs than with GOD. This is an example of programming humans to devalue themselves. This plays right in Satan's plans.
I sure hope my furbabies are up there waiting with the rest of my family for when it's my time.
There are dogs in heaven and I can prove it:
When you die and get to heaven, since God is omniscient, He knows that you loved your pets. Since God is love, He has promised you eternal joy. Since God is omnipotent, He can have them there waiting for you. Since He will never lie, He would not just make you forget about them because He knows you love them and making you just forget about them would be a form of lying and dishonest joy.
Ergo, God knows about, is capable, and willing to make sure your pets are waiting for you in heaven.
They'll be there.
We are commanded by Jesus to hate everything in comparison to our love for Jesus (Luke 14:26). Our feelings for everything, even family, should be hatred when we compare it to our love for Jesus. If you think you would miss out at all by not having a dog in Heaven then you truly do not love Jesus.
I love how you can see into my heart and know the truth.
You have an issue with Scripture, not me. I’m merely repeating and describing the Word of God.
Plank in the eye my friends. Plank in the eye.
Methinks that poor old Sir Cheese has a lumberyard going on, and it's tripping up his ability to actually embody the love of Christ.
But he'll tell you that he's only "repeating scripture". Kind of like them pharisees that only quoted 'scripture' to Jesus while they were in the process of rejecting him.
It’s so sad how people use this verse to still focus on other people when the message is literally teaching the exact opposite. Don’t pretend to be beneath reproach.
*Note: repeating and describing [MY interpretation of] the Word of God.
Read the words of Jesus for yourself. No one can call themselves His disciples if they do not hate everyone in comparison to their love for him. If you think Jesus’ words are up to interpretation then you have a serious issue.
Jesus doesn’t teach you to hate. He does reference what is most important. To love your God and to love your neighbor. Technically your family falls in line with neighbors. As does every politician in Washington DC. Blessings, are what you could hope for. And God can withhold on those and even take away. God loves us all the same. What Qkek mentioned was spot on. I feel our loved ones as well as animals, that we truly loved…not like a gold fish we had for 3 months, can and will be in Heaven. God can do anything. There will be no tears in Heaven. No sadness or pain. Joy will be abundant. In His presence.
You need to go and read the scripture I referenced.
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.”
Hate is used as a term of comparison in the Bible. If you hate everything on earth in comparison to your love for Jesus, then what is the need for things that are comparatively hated in Heaven? If you think you need more than Jesus in Heaven and are this attached to worldly things and relationships then you seriously need to reevaluate your relationship with Him.
Also, God does not love everyone the same: “Jacob I loved but Esau I have hated.” Malachi 1:3
Please read the Bible.
Where did I say we need more than Jesus? Please point that out. You like to make stuff up?
Edit. Looking at Luke your post describes exactly that, but your context makes a person to think “to hate”…Jesus was using a metaphor…..parable. It simply means place God first. Even if that means you lose your family, keep God first. Read the Bible yes, but your translation with “hate your family” needs more explanation. I hope your not just running around saying that. Explain that scripture better if your gonna act all scholarly on folks.
Are you not reading my comments at all where I specifically said that hate is a comparative term?
God created animals to be the companions of Adam. He allowed Adam to name them and have dominion over them. I simply don't believe Our Loving Father would deny us anything in our Heavenly life that we have in this life. He will give us More.
People who've had a Near Death Experience return into their body and describe seeing their family members and pets who have crossed over before. They have even met siblings they didn't know theu had due to their Mother having a miscarriage.
Our God is an Awesome God and we can't fathom His Infinite Love for us.
PRAISE HIS NAME! 🙌
Want to know how to go to Heaven? https://www.gotquestions.org/going-to-heaven.html
That would be spot on except that it misses the partbof our need to repent of sin.
How much sin do you need to repent? Some? All? What if you forget a little one? Then no go?
I agree that the heart needs to be a repentant in nature, but is the act of repenting is works and if you have to repent enough to cover all of your sin, then your salvation is based on works.
Or is coming to Christ a matter of belief?
Acts 16, the jailer runs in and asks what he must do to be saved…
Acts 16:31 answers Believe in the Lord Jesus
Another example is the there on the cross. He just believed in Christ. No works possible there.
I think that it could be so slight that it’s almost how you word it but the heart is repentant because the belief is that Jesus died for your sins. But the work of trying to ask for or repent for all sin that you can account for, that’s works to some degree and I don’t believe in works based salvation.
It is by grace we are saved. Food for thought. Not interested in a debate but I used to think like you and agree. But once I really studied it, this is what I think now.
I agree. Repenting of sins is important, but it is not part of receiving eternal life. We just believe or put faith in Jesus Christ to receive eternal life from him.
John 11:25 "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”"
John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life."
Turning from sin saves us from God's Fatherly discipline on Earth and allows us to be useful for Jesus on Earth, so that we can receive rewards from him in eternity.
1 Cor 11:31-32 "But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world."
John 6:37 “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out."
Repenting is no more a work than believing in or asking for Jesus to enter our hearts; by your logic, any act of the mind or thought is a work.
Being repentant of sin is a disposition towards sin and God. Read Romans 7 vs 13+ for more clarification of the disposition Christians have with sin.
ALL known sin, Ephesians 2:8,9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9) Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
Ephesians 2:14-26 Faith and Works (Galatians 3:1–9) 14What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith, but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,” but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that? 17So too, faith by itself, if it does not result in action,f is dead.
18But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19You believe that God is one.g Good for you! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20O foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is worthless?h 21Was not our father Abraham justified by what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that his faith was working with his actions, and his faith was perfected by what he did. 23And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”i and he was called a friend of God.j 24As you can see, a man is justified by his deeds and not by faith alone.
25In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute justified by her actions when she welcomed the spiesk and sent them off on another route? 26As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
God does grade on a curve and His name is Jesus. I wear a cross, not because I’m such a model Christian, but because I’m not. I’m broken and a sinner and Jesus Christ is my savior.
Yea, Jesus scored a 100% and the rest of us scored 0% for the test of the Law. The curve only allows for Jesus to be saved based off of following the Law.
"In adjacent community" that's funny.😁
Even OP said adjacent community…the only one I could think of was the only other place besides Heaven….Hell.
Best be sure, OP ,about your relationship today. 👍
It's not black and white. There are many grades, and many shades. For example, is Paradise the same as Heaven?
There are as many shades of spirit world as there are of human hearts. However, there are demarcations. Borders. Faith in Jesus opens the doorway and puts one into a certain realm, which Christ called paradise. Paradise is the waiting room where we prepare for the Kingdom of Heaven, which will manifest perfectly when his Will is Done on Earth as in Heaven.
Because God is fully just he cannot accept any sin, even a little. He has to punish it.
Jesus Christ lived the perfectly obedient life ,that we are not even able to live, for us. He then died to pay the penalty for our sins forver.
Romans 4:25 "He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification."
Because of this, Jesus, the Son of God, guarantees eternal life for every single person who believes in Him or puts their faith in Him.
John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life."
John 6:40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
John 11:25-26 "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”"
If you have believed in Jesus Christ, you already have eternal life right now and any good things you are doing are towards your eternal reward from Him(example, treasure in heaven).
God doesn't grade "on the curve." You must be perfect to be with a perfect God. There is only one way to be perfect. Die with Christ, be born again as a new and perfect person. Then walk in newness of life, forever.
He doesn't. It's strictly Pass/Fail
Imagine there are 10 restaurants in a small town in which you are staying. You visit all of them and see each and every chef in each restaurant drop their drawers and poop in the food. Some poop more, some poop less. Would you grade them on a curve and eat from the chef who pooped not quite as much in the stew as the others? God cannot tolerate sin in any amount. It is vile and disgusting to Him. That's why His Son had to die, to reconcile the lost ones {you, me, and all the other sinners of the world) whom He loves, with His Holy nature that cannot turn a blind eye to sin. Repent and turn to God, confess your need for a savior, believe in Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead, and you will have not only a place in Heaven, but joy and strength in this world too.
......I think the same way. Just do your best and keep on keepin' on.
To receive Jesus as your personal Saviour, simply *Recognize that your are a sinner who meeds Jesus *confess your sins-wrongdoings *Repent to God of your sins *Ask Jesus to save you, to come in to your heart *Ask Jesus to be Lord of your life
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His inly begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 3:1-29 God Remains Faithful 1What, then, is the advantage of being a Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? 2Much in every way. First of all, they have been entrusted with the very wordsa of God. 3What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness? 4Certainly not! Let God be true and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that You may be proved right when You speak and victorious when You judge.”b 5But if our unrighteousness highlights the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unjust to inflict His wrath on us? I am speaking in human terms. 6Certainly not! In that case, how could God judge the world? 7However, if my falsehood accentuates God’s truthfulness, to the increase of His glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner? 8Why not say, as some slanderously claim that we say, “Let us do evil that good may result”? Their condemnation is deserved!
There Is No One Righteous (Psalm 14:1–7; Psalm 53:1–6; Isaiah 59:1–17) 9What then? Are we any better? Not at all. For we have already made the charge that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin. 10As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one. 11There is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. 12All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”c 13“Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.”d “The venom of vipers is on their lips.”e 14“Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”f 15“Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16ruin and misery lie in their wake, 17and the way of peace they have not known.”g 18“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”h 19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20Therefore no one will be justified in His sight by works of the law. For the law merely brings awareness of sin. Righteousness through Faith in Christ (Philippians 3:1–11) 21But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, as attested by the Law and the Prophets. 22And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. 25God presented Him as the atoning sacrificei through faith in His blood, in order to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand. 26He did this to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and to justify the one who has faith in Jesus. 27Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of works? No, but on that of faith. 28For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law. 29Is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, 30since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. 31Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Certainly not! Instead, we uphold the law.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6 Dead to Sin, Alive to God See also (2 Corinthians 4:7–18) 1What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer? 3Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection. 6We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. 7For anyone who has died has been freed from sin. 8Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. 9For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has dominion over Him. 10The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. 11So you too must count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires. 13Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness. 14For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. The Wages of Sin 15What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law, but under grace? Certainly not! 16Do you not know that when you offer yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to the one you obey, whether you are slaves to sin leading to death, or to obedience leading to righteousness? 17But thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed. 18You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. 19I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to escalating wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. 20For when you were slaves to sin, you were free of obligation to righteousness. 21What fruit did you reap at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? The outcome of those things is death. 22But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the fruit you reap leads to holiness, and the outcome is eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 10:8-13 8But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved. 11It is just as the Scripture says: “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.”e 12For there is no difference between Jew and Greek: The same Lord is Lord of all, and gives richly to all who call on Him, 13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Thank you for simplifying it.. kek!. Just kidding, love Bible verses... they bring me back to Earth or earth, depending on one's point of view. There is no 'curve', just like there is no 'spoon'... right Neo!?! :)
My opinion is that Earth is a pass/fail class, and the only ones who truly fail are the ones who desperately and explicitly want to fail. Just make an effort to treat everyone with love and kindness and you're all set. It may not be the orthodox view, but it is what I believe.
This is literally what the Church of Satan believes. To just treat everyone with love and kindness and you’re all set. We need Jesus for a reason, it’s not all about us nor our works.
Well, all I know is I'm not a Satanist, but I honestly can't believe any Satanist espousing love for God and neighbor as a guiding value. Beyond that, I just do the best I can and I am sure one day I will learn the truth.
The truth is hidden from those who do not seek it.
Yes you will and it will be painful. The worst part is, is that you have been given an opportunity to make that choice for Christ, and still… You will choose to die in your sins. That’s very sad. Your heart is in the right place, however, a heart without Christ in it, will leave you short. You may want to reconsider your thought process, because this entire thread is God crying out to you with the truth. God bless you and have a great day.
Satanists are their own gods. Since humanity is like gods to them, this is where their reverence for treating each other come from. It is a twisted love compared to the love we have from the Father.
Open your eyes
Ephesians 2:8-13 8For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.a
One in Christ (Philippians 2:1–4) 11Therefore remember that formerly you who are Gentiles in the flesh and called uncircumcised by the so-called circumcision (that done in the body by human hands)— 12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.
The difficulty with that is that we don't even meet that standard on our own:
Honestly , this is not far from what Jesus our Messiah said himself: Mark 12:28
(This is where they are in the Antique Covenant (OT, If you prefer)
He extended this to include even those for whom the 'hatred is mutual', when he told the story of the good Samaritan. And He amplified it when He described being angry with others without cause as setting yourself up for hellfire. If you read the Sermon on the Mount and the after verses, you'll get the idea that God's standard is sinless perfection. And you'll be right. Reading Isaiah 52 -53 will help.
No offense but we are all going to hell unless we start seriously working on eliminating our defects (lust, greed, envy, anger, gluttony, sloth, lying, killing etc). Just believing unfortunately will get us nowhere. 99.9999999999999% of people are reincarnated after death based on their karma, those who have used up all of their lifetimes go to hell, unless they managed to escape the wheel of samsara by doing the work of Jesus Christ (becoming perfect) through super efforts.
Maybe listen to the words of Jesus if you’re going to reference Him, it’s very clear that we are saved by faith in Him alone, not by works.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” John 5:24
https://www.openbible.info/topics/justification_by_faith_alone
We also only die once. Not reincarnated.
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,” Hebrews 9:27
