Yup this has been my game theory the entire past 3 years. Imagine you learn that your dad killed your mom and baby sister because an affair with the babysitter, as you were a child. Then your dad sexually abused you and your other sister your entire childhood. You want him to burn but he’s one the most powerful person in the world. Wouldn’t it be wild if he was the one that q said you wouldn’t believe who youve been talking to all this time.
This has also been my theory, and I'd like to add that it can't be easy watching your dad lionize your dead brother while treating you like the family screw-up.
ETA: I don't think Hunter is smart enough to be anywhere near Q, though. I just agree with you that the weight of his family skeletons had him willing to turn.

However, when Q operation was going on, and you had an option of turning your abusive family in, and repenting for whatever your part in all this might be? Number of people taking that oppurtunity is more han we would think.

I often asked myself, while watching the videos and looking at the pics, Why in the hell would He ever purposely record himself doing the things he was doing. Activities like having sex with minors, doing illicit drugs, Doing illicit drugs with a minor whose dad was president at the time. I use Dad here as a generic term, yeah. Anyways, Who would record that?
What If the saved videos and pictures weren't all on purpose? Laptop open on bed or desk, camera not covered, easily hacked and used. One could also save the files in a manner that the user of the computer would never know about. Computer shop however has access to the hard drive with the proper knowledge and found the cache. Maybe that's why Hunter didn't go pick it up, he didn't know.

Seeing the likes of Brittany spears and her relationship with her “parents”, is it too far of a reach to think his relationship in the pecking order is quite similar to hers? He’s not thought of as more than a “tool” or “toy” for FBJ to get what he wants.
Having lived with a narcissist for decades, I'm sure that dear old dementia dad probably was forcing him to 'save face' for the family more and more up to the point where drugs, hookers, guns and a missing laptop full of secrets were more preferable options to dealing with an asshole like him for a single minute longer.
