I think criticisms of Pompeo got muddied by the usual arguments made that were literally boiled down to "He was CIA", especially due to his relatively brief time as such.

It's BS that no one is doing anything about it. Only someone who hasn't looked would say that! There are global, concerted efforts to not only fight for Assange's freedom but also to make his stay in prison more humane. I have personally been part of telephone campaigns where we called Belmarsh high security prison and demanded Assange was given winter clothing. His partner is coordinating with these advocate groups and gives regular updates on his situation. So many people want to see him freed and are fighting for this, including other whistleblowers.
Trump could have pardoned Assange and didn't, whatever the reason. Don't look to politicians for help in this case. We have to make our voices heard publicly if we want Assange to walk.
