I wasn't counting the minutes but I noticed that he stopped speaking, turned around, and got right out of there without answering any questions. He nearly always answers questions. I found it odd at the time (was working and distracted).

I agree. I noticed that about 2 minutes from the end of his speech he seemed to be stalling for time as well. He was set to wrap up his speech and then went into another subject matter briefly before, like you said, bolting out of there without questions.
