I am not sure if I like either side, here. I mean, protesters seem peaceful (I don't think I align with them, though). And police seem normal... and then... SNATCH! But why? Was it because they feared she would incite a riot?

maybe she identified herself as a leader of the protest and that gave them justification? i dunno, cops just do what they know they can get away with and the protestors are just as bad.
She may have assaulted a policeman earlier in the protest with a cell phone, causing a laceration. At least I hope that's why. Otherwise, kind of scary.
I can't tell if they are blocking a public street or not. Nor do I know if they had a permit to block a street, if that is what they are doing. But, if they were blocking a street without a permit, then the cops have legit authority to perform that "yank" maneuver. If that happened on a street I traveled on, I would be pissed that the cops allowed that mob to even build up to that size.

I used to do riot control. We always identified the instigator and pulled them into the (tank) as we called it then. If you want to keep people at more than arms length, sometimes anyone who got in your face got sucked in. Good to see them taking proactive measures and removing all anonymity.
