Ok, how are the chickens getting the bird flu if they are cooped up in their cages laying eggs? How are any other animals, cows, cats, etc getting bird flu if they’re not in contact with the affected chickens? This is beyond stupid.

Supposedly it’s actually ducks and geese. I believe that the chickens catching it is fake. They wanted that to happen, but it didn’t. If it is in cow milk, it was put there intentionally.

My chickens all had fowl pox this year. I'd never even heard of it before but suddenly they all had these really gross pox all over their faces. Anyway, I looked it up and it is apparently spread by mosquitos. They quit laying for a time, and I lost one bird, but the rest recovered nicely. They aren't meat birds so I'm not worried about eating the meat but it was very weird. I have to wonder if this is how everything spreads... the damn mosquitos.

Are meat birds different?
You could certainly eat any chicken but "meat birds" (certain varieties of chickens) are raised for their meat and usually culled within a few months as they grow so big they can barely walk. There are hybrid types that are good layers and big enough to eat. But most good egg laying varieties are hardly worth butchering as they don't have much meat on them.

Toxoplasmosis can be deadly, especially to the developing child. Personal story, a dear friend of mine (prayers please), is rather sick with brain inflammation that is so bad they thought my friend had Lyme disease. Turns out it is toxoplasmosis gondii. I warned my friend that the cat should not be allowed to sleep on faces, but my friend thought it was adorable whenever said cat did this. Anyway, prayers for my friend would be nice, to whoever reads this.
