No solar or generator?
We considered solar panels when we built here (had them and a whole house generator in NY state before we moved south). But we had spray foam insulation put in here when we built this home which would make it hard to detect any roof leaks. Also electricity is so much cheaper here than in NY.
As for a whole house generator we have a hook up for a small propane one if it were ever needed just to run our fridge and freeze but we never purchased one.
We were flooded out here after Hurricane Flo with 6 feet in our driveway. So everyone who had generators had them flooded or those that were on higher ground couldn’t even use them bc the gas company turned off all the gas in our neighborhood bc of the flooding.
We would have had to pay to build a platform 6 feet up to hold the generator if we decided to put one in. Also we never lose power here even during hurricanes bc our power is underground and we’re only a few blocks from the power station.
They literally had to turn off all the power here three days after Hurricane Flo while we were flooding. we never lost it during the storm or any other hurricanes we’ve seen here at all. So basically if you ever really need a generator here you would be made to evacuate. So it’s pretty much useless to have one unless a SHTF situation occurs
