It won't work without a Trump endorsement. The system, whether purposefully set up that way or not, is 'winner-take-all'. This is why no 3rd party has ever gained any steam in the US. We don't form coalition governments like the Euros; we're not set up that way. One or the other party would have to crash and the American party take its place - like the fall of the Whig party.

Perot had the best shot - I loved that guy - and he was right - there was a giant sucking sound of jobs out of the US - but after some weirdness, he didn't get any states. He got some counties, but that doesn't cut it. And did Perot end Bush and make Clinton by splitting the conservative vote?

This will probably split the Republican party and make it a non-player, so I'm cautious about any enthusiasm for it. We cannot afford to let the communists win by having their opposition split.

▲ 2 ▼
– G45Colt 2 points 333 days ago +2 / -0

I thought Perot had the right idea. I used to wonder if he was put up to split the Rs as you suggest. There's also the possibility he had a real shot at winning, and as an outsider the DS couldn't allow that and Perot was blackmailed into capitulation. Arkancide was quite popular at the time.

– drakus 2 points 333 days ago +2 / -0

This is SO well stated, and perfectly reflects my feelings, HB77...and TY for laying that out. Also like you, I was a tremendous Perot supporter and yes, "threw away my vote" by voting for the man. I was really taken with him, and I think he could've been a Trump-like reformer...though likely not on the scale of what we have now with Trump. ;)

How do you really single out “certain people” in a plan? Start something big and new, and see who rushes to join or fund first to “spotlight” sing its praises, and then who move to “spotlight” attack it first.

Art of War “head fake” possibly. 😉

We already have other parties. Trump was a Democrat, considered a run for POTUS as a Reform Party candidate in 2000, and finally joined the Republican Party.

Then there's the Green Party, the Constitution Party, the Libertarian Party, and for a huge chunk of Congress, the Communist Party.

Also, I don't want to live in a Democracy either. Musk should know that's mob rule, the same as the uni-party.

When you think about it, MAGA no longer works as POTUS is already making it great again with the Golden Age. So what do you call a single party that takes over the Cabal Uniparty. The America Party sounds like something POTUS would create and hopefully do away with the two party system that has failed the American people. I wonder if this is a set up or is Elon really trying to undermine our POTUS? I personally believe it will be a good thing to get rid of Republicans and Democrats and start a new Government run by and for the People, you and me. Who does that sound like? Elon or our GOAT POTUS? or Both? Food for thought.

How about this: Trump is awarded a third term by some kind of legal compensation for the 2020 steal, Trump moves under a new party banner, mass resignations as a result of unsealing (and other reasons) lots of seats are up everywhere, MAGA types appointed or elected to all vacant seats. A kind of instant democratic regime change event. New party, third term, reckoning for monumental crimes, total regime change, new systems everywhere but everything just works as you expect.

That would be a hell of a third act what?

If there's any sign of life in the Brunson case, clean all the trash out and put new people in the existing 2 parties, everywhere. A 3 party system would just make the 'new' party the odd man out. If a 3rd party pulls the cream from the other 2 parties, the other 2 parties would just refill their seats with people who (if possible) are even more radical than what's in there now. Not going to do anything except stir up the dregs on the bottom.

WE already have The third party. Trump Made MAGA the third party by Taking the Rep. party from clinton and obama had already destroyed the Dem. party and made it liberal/communism. SO, the Centrist 80% is Now MAGA and that includes 40 million working Democrats. Keep in mind that 'democracy' means NY City, DC. and Cal. OWN and Rule over The Republic, which IS MAGA.

permalink save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– killerspacerobot 1 point 333 days ago +1 / -0

Also keep in mind that the Republican Party started out as the abolitionist (anti-slavery) party. It would be an offense to history if MAGA abandoned this heritage, since it applies so completely to modern times.

In my observation, "democracy" means "rule by Democrats." Every single time a Democrat uses the term, this fully explains their meaning.

If Trump successfully works the plan to perfection and makes America (and thus everywhere else) great again he deserves a nice retirement. He will be pushing 83 in 2029.

Extremely bad idea, demonstrated over the past several generations. The LIbertarian Party started out with that in mind, but ultimately became the captive of tinpot tyrant radical activists, and degenerated into a small puddle full of internecine power struggles. Ross Perot helped to split the conservative vote and enabled Bill Clinton to become President.

Right now, MAGA has preeminence in the GOP and the objective should be to coax (or force) out the RINO component. Let them form a third party and split the globalist vote. If we can't do that when we have the upper hand, we have no hope of establishing a third party anyway.

It never fails in politics. The amateurs don't want to finish the job ("Kill the RINOs!") because it would be hard work, so they think they can avoid the problem by starting all over again new. Rather than fix the roof on their house, they would prefer to tear it down and start all over fresh?

Oklahoma Election Law defines recognized political parties and establishes the rules for their formation and maintenance of status.

Current Recognized Parties: As of May 2024, Oklahoma officially recognizes the Democratic, Libertarian, and Republican parties.

Recognized parties include those with candidates on the 1974 General Election ballot or new parties formed via a legal procedure involving signature collection. To maintain recognition, a party's statewide candidate must receive at least 2.5% of the total votes in one of the two preceding general elections. Failure to meet this results in the party becoming a "political organization".

Registered voters of a recognized party typically vote only in that party's primary, while independent voters can participate only if a recognized party allows them, as the Democratic Party has done for 2024 and 2025 primaries. Voters registered with a political organization cannot vote in party primaries, but all voters may participate in non-partisan elections.

Important details include that candidates' names do not show party affiliations on ballots, and party affiliation changes are restricted from April 1 to August 31 in even-numbered years. More information is available on the Oklahoma.gov website.

OKLAHOMA STATUTES TITLE 26. ELECTIONS

https://oksenate.gov/sites/default/files/2019-12/os26.pdf

§26-1-107. Recognized political parties

§26-1-108. Formation of new political parties.

A group of persons may form a recognized political party at any time except during the period between March 1 and November 15 of any even-numbered year if the following procedure is observed:

  1. Notice of intent to form a recognized political party must be filed in writing with the Secretary of the State Election Board at any time except during the period between March 1 and November 15 of any even-numbered year;
  1. After such notice is filed, petitions seeking recognition of a political party, in a form to be prescribed by the Secretary of the State Election Board, shall be filed with such Secretary, bearing the signatures of registered voters equal to at least three percent (3%) of the total votes cast in the last General Election for Governor. Each page of such petitions must contain the names of registered voters from a single county. Petitions may be circulated a maximum of one (1) year after notice is filed, provided that petitions shall be filed with the Secretary no later than March 1 of an even-numbered year. Such petitions shall not be circulated between March 1 and November 15 of any even-numbered year; and
  1. Within thirty (30) days after receipt of such petitions, the State Election Board shall determine the sufficiency of such petitions. If such Board determines there are a sufficient number of valid signatures of registered voters, the party becomes recognized under the laws of the State of Oklahoma with all rights and obligations accruing thereto.

Added by Laws 1974, c. 153, § 1-108, operative Jan. 1, 1975. Amended by Laws 1985, c. 269, § 1; Laws 2003, c. 485, § 1; Laws 2004, c. 53, § 6, emerg. eff. April 1, 2004; Laws 2011, c. 196, § 3, eff. Nov. 1, 2011; Laws 2015, c. 311, § 1, eff. Nov. 1, 2015.

US CONSTITUTION

Article 2, Section 1:

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President.

The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Article I, Section 4, Clause 1:

The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

This fake fall out is the perfect avenue to break out this concept. It's not Trump pushing it, it's Elon. We can't fix the Democrat or Republican parties. So let's start a new party! I am loving their 5D chess game!

Where have you been? Trump has virtually single-handedly corrected the Republican Party to be the MAGA movement. We are in de facto control. The only problem is the remaining RINO element that needs to be primaried by MAGA congressmen. For God's sake, do not concede a defeat that does not exist.

I would prefer no political parties at all.

Why should party leadership come between me and my duly elected representative?

▲ 1 ▼
– killerspacerobot 1 point 333 days ago +1 / -0

It shouldn't, but there will always be "parties," call them what you will. And the reason for that is because, on any issue, there will be a rational moral approach and any number of irrational or immoral approaches, and they will have their respective advocacies. It depends on whether your duly elected representative is a rational and moral person. And that depends on you and your fellow citizens. Which is why you cannot afford to be disinterested or uninvolved in the elections. I know: tough work. But you cannot benefit from what you do not invest in. This has been our problem for generations: sloth and complacency.

Given human nature, as you described above, how about dynamic political parties. Each party forms for ONE issue and lasts for one session of congress. No unelected persons may be part of said party.

We can place other restrictions on the party as needed, but the bottom line is that the current system puts unelected persons (party leadership) between me and my duly elected representative.

The current party system has failed us.

Single-issue parties are perpetually doomed to irrelevance. You see what happens in the European countries where parliaments comprise multiple parties, and they struggle for dominance. Sometimes, a Hitler results.

It is also contrary to the nature of opposition. The two sides generally represent two major themes of thought, because all the issues are related, e.g., constitutionalism vs. straight democracy.

There is no "system" that puts a party between you and your representative. You should always be able to contact or see your representative. The only problem is if they hold you at a distance, in which case that would have been the wrong man in office. Which comes back to grass-roots politics and how that man was elected at all.

Are you serious?? The party members do what the party tells them and get nice, influential committee assignments, potentially with tons of perks.

Or don't do what the party leaders tell them and get doomed to irrelevance by having no political capital (read influence) to get anything done.

So, who voted these guys into office? There are people who have integrity, or we wouldn't be having the successful Beautiful Big Bill. You have work to do in removing the trash and putting in the right people. It's the old adage: If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

You do realize that Elon is pissing off actual MAGA supporters don't? People have turned on him. He's also suspending and demonitizing many larger and small MAGA Trump supporter accounts on TwitterX as well.

The "poll" he took supporting this 3rd party is full of foreigners and bots.

I see no one has mentioned yet that Kim Clement mentioned that a new party would emerge. Looks like he may hit another bullseye with that prophecy. He didn't seem to think it was a negative thing.

By the look of things, this could be a successor to the Democrat Party, but it could well be an overtly Socialist Party. The most of the worst, home to weirdos both philosophical and psychological. The last "respectable" refuge of aberration.

Until there is a thorough sanitizing of the intellectual and mental health of a nation, this disaffected element will associate to have its say.

The creation of a legitimate third party is a positive step, but we can't afford to lose focus or vigilance. The enemy has the country in his grip because of his corruptive influence on mankind. There's a saying I picked up while in the military: "Locks just keep honest people honest." Dishonest people aren't deterred by morality or fairness. Honest, decent people fall victim because they see the good in others and give them the benefit of doubt. We have to keep checks and balances, to look for the sociopaths among us, to preserve our peace and safety.

I'm all for a 4th party (there already is 3, independant) but it would need a better name because "America" includes all of the countries in the American hemisphere. Canada to Peru, are technically Americas. Only people of the USA are so selfish to think only they are AMERICAN. Another reason why the The Gulf of America works but even that should have been The Gulf of the Americas.

You are behind the times. The GOP has morphed into MAGA. We still have an encrustation of RINOs to shed. Please stop giving them the prominence they only had formerly. The more they are rejected, the more they retreat into their pouting and chest-puffing...and ignominity.
