The FCC might’ve influenced and appreciated Nexstar‘s cancellation of the Kimmel Show, but the decision was Nexstar‘s. They could’ve prepared to go to bat for Kimmel but they didn’t.
Don’t forget that this decision follows the HUGE penalty over the libel against Trump committed by George Stephanopoulos, so this is likely why ABC was unwilling to tolerate George Kimmel’s obvious falsehood regarding the political views of Tyler Robinson, who CLEARLY isn’t MAGA. This is a big win, though, against the shameless gaslighting of the leftist media since Charlie Kirk’s assassination. I am a bit wary of using the FCC to punish political speech, which could be a first amendment violation, but it looks as if ABC folded from a threat from the FCC chairman to look into the matter—which just indicates how skeptical they were that Kimmel’s lies were defensible…
What about that other late show with the guy that used to be on SNL; Seth Meyers! I've only seen a few minutes here and there over the years of that guy and it was the most unfunny rambling anti-Trump monologue stuff I've ever seen. I can't believe that show is still on (maybe it isn't).
