This happened in the first calirado all mail in ballot election. Republican incumbent was winning late into the evening…then “trunkfulls of ballots” from Boulder county were found and hickenlooper won.
And it’s been circling the shithole drain ever since.
I've not read all of the statistics re Northern Va, but Fairfax County had mail in votes far outnumbering those at polls - an even number of 35k (such an even number seems a bit sketchy, imo).
One thing people forget is that Northern VA, especially Falls Church, Fairfax, Loudon county and Arlington has a huge number of people stationed overseas (along with those stationed across the US for TDY) for diplomatic or military/intelligence reasons and also business execs who run multinational businesses and with multiple houses all over the world.
These account for a large portion of mail in ballots for Northern Virginia. It's also a common practice of people who make very high per hour wages (think Beltway Bandits). When you're making $800+/hr, taking that time to go vote in person makes little sense when you can mail in your vote.
And finally, you have the Contrarians. Those who switched from in person voting to mail in as a big "FUCK YOU!!!" to President Trump.
They literally have focus groups on how to word these questions to confuse and sway results towards the desired outcome.
Enemy of the people. EVERYONE involved in elections needs to be PURGED - reapply and after your interview, we'll decide if you're trustworthy enough to return.

We are getting super fucked here in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Angry at the moment. Feel like my vote hasn't ever counted here. If ever proven in a Court of Law, that would be great. Glad Trump has spoken up, hopeful something happens. Sooner than later.

Pipe dream. This is just so implausible, I have a hard time believing he's serious about it.
This runs into multiple hard legal and practical barriers at once.
First, you don’t get there with an executive order. Reversing the District of Columbia retrocession would require Congress to pass a law redefining DCs boundaries, because Congress controls the federal district. On top of that, Virginia would almost certainly have to consent, since you’re taking back territory that has been part of the state for nearly two centuries. If Virginia objects (and it would, LOUDLY) that triggers immediate federal litigation, likely ending up at the Supreme Court because there’s no definitive ruling on whether the original retrocession could even be undone.
Second, Virginia has a massive incentive to block it. Arlington and Alexandria are two of the highest revenue jurisdictions in the state. Losing them means losing a major chunk of property tax base, business tax revenue, and high income spending.
There’s no realistic scenario where the state just agrees to that.
Third, the bureaucratic side is not a tweak, it’s a full system replacement. Overnight you’d be forcing tax system changes ,school system overhaul, court system swap, law enforcement integration, zoning rewrite, public benefits + insurance transitions.
Every resident and business would have to reprocess licenses, permits, filings, and compliance frameworks. It’s a jurisdictional reset, not a boundary adjustment. And it would be a nightmare of paperwork for every citizen, who would fight this tooth and nail.
Finally, the local reality. This area has a very high concentration of wealthy, legally sophisticated, and politically connected residents. Federal officials, attorneys, contractors, executives. Those groups have both the incentive and the capacity to fight something like this aggressively. You’re not dealing with a poor or passive population.
So even before you get to politics, the stack looks like...

3.Courts would likely intervene
4.Entire tax/legal/education systems must be rebuilt
5.Residents lose representation and face massive disruption

Our local city (California) election was stolen last week. All incumbent's lost in historical fashion. The turnout they (the lefty commies) claim was due to “orange man bad” being in office.

As to the whole "people couldn't understand the ballot" thing....that's why people need to familiarize themselves of what is on the ballot BEFORE they go to vote.
And people must have been living under a rock for the past 4 months to not know that the Democrats wanted you to vote Yes. They had the Obama ad running 24/7 for the past several months. It is one of the most expensive campaigns for a non-Presidential election. I think they spent over $100,000,000 on it.
So if someone rolled out from under their rock and walked into their voting center with zero understanding or knowledge of what they're voting for or how they should vote, then that's on them.
There are people that just don’t follow politics or watch tv. There are a lot of people that work sun up to sundown, have dinner and go to sleep. There are also people that decided they are going to vote no, went in and saw “restore fairness” and thought “oh I didn’t know it was about making things fair” and voted Yes.

They were on the radio stations, on Spotify, on YouTube Music.
They were on the buses (inside and out), on the metro, and on the Marc train platforms.
They were stapled up on light poles, in bus stop shelters, on digital street ad billboards, on regular billboards, and on bulletin boards inside grocery stores and laundry mats and inside countless store front windows.
They were in print newspapers and print regional magazines as well as in the ads on their digital counterparts.
People had them out in their yards. There were signs stuck in the ground in road medians.
All with Obama's smug face (or voice) on them telling people to vote Yes.
We were bombarded with this for at LEAST 4 months.

The ironic thing is that the conservatives funding the Vote No campaigns routinely leaned into using quotes from Obama and Spanberger saying they opposed gerrymandering (obviously prior to all this) to try to sway the low information voters you're talking about.
Go look up the ads for Justice For Democracy PAC (guess we're a Democracy again, and not a Republic) to see for yourself. Peter Thiel was the one responsible for that bit of idiocy and spent around $10 million trying to confuse low information liberal voters.

I don’t see any problem with it at all. It showed democrats speaking their own words about not liking gerrymandering and truthfully pointed out it would end the only two majority black districts.
There will be no majority black districts if this new map is enacted.
