This was the case at the last fast-food job I had.

New manager was South American Spanish-speaker.

Only hired other Spanish-speakers.

I was not let go, but for months on end, I was on the schedule...with zero hours.

I couldn't even file for unemployment because I was technically still employed.

Since I couldn't find anyone else talking about it here:

Okay, what the hell was with Elon's statement that we need MORE immigration!

"It's the best and brightest!" And most nepotistic. In my experience, they in turn will be bringing over those far, far less qualified.

All that does is put off the problem another couple of generations. Then we'll be right back where we started, or worse.

Yeah, yeah, I know, 72-hour rule. But I don't see how that will change things, especially with so little time left until the inauguration.

That one tweet is causing so much dooming on other wins. I don't know how to answer it.

One of my favorite sermons from the late great Dr. D. James Kennedy was about how evil Dan Brown's books really were.

I bet he's going to be arguing this for at least a week.

It's what he does. He cannot see that people have moved on to other topics.

I only realized a few weeks ago how respectful it was that they gave Mr. Takagi such a defiant end, even though this was in 1988, in the middle of the Japanese bubble years, when everyone thought Japan really was going to take over the world.

Surprising for an American movie to do. Yeah, he still dies, but the man retains his honor, never betraying those below him.

And Japan thought they were taking over too--the wonderful anime Gunbuster came out that year, and it is loaded with optimism for their country's future.

Then the bubble burst a couple of years later. They haven't been the same since.

Last week, my mother and I visited my stepfather in the hospital.

A few days later, everyone in our home was sick with a cold.

I recovered a couple of days ago, but still can't taste anything.

YES THERE IS A FUCKING VIRUS

I'm not Catholic, but Bishop Fulton Sheen has all the respect I can give.

I still wonder why that Punisher skull graphic had to be so freakin' tall.

I don't mean the skull itself. I mean all the black.

I'm not Jewish, ethnically or religiously, but...

Isn't that just a book of opinions? Really gross opinions, but still opinions.

And more importantly, human opinions are not the Word of God.

Whatever J.G. Wentworth is paying that ad agency, it's not enough.

Same for Jim Adler. I live where Adler practices, so I see his ads a lot.

Both lawyers own the silliness, and I respect that.

This reminded me of "A-ha! So nudity makes you stronger on this planet!"

TeamFourStar may be a bunch of libtards, but GOD that's hilarious parody.

If the Fibonacci sequence is God's signature, explain why I keep seeing so many people here explain we used to count in base 12.

Extra fingers on ancient statues (Gilgamesh), counting knuckles instead of whole fingers and then just ignoring the thumb, etc.

It's so weird seeing that name, since I've been a gamer since the late 1980s, and there's a character in Phantasy Star II who is ALSO named Rudolf Steiner.

Character limits mean his name gets shortened to Rudo, but "Rudolf Steiner" is explicitly stated, spelling and all.

You meet him very early on.

Even worse, his name in the Japanese version was Rudger Steiner!

Yeah, I tripled my daily C intake once I realized I was sick.

But I got over COVID-19 in about 12 hours doing this. This has gone on about four days.

It's entirely possible I got food poisoning as well, which thankfully I'm mostly over, but I had a much worse case of that about a year and a half ago--then, I was in so much pain that I thought I was going to die.

Still, thank you for that. I am about 80% through this illness, I just had to make that point.

Speaking as someone currently recovering from an illness picked up in a hospital:

Now do vitamins.

Pretty sure you're joking, but just in case you're not...

The full phrase is Latin for "The voice of the people is the voice of God."

Going back 129 years from 2025 (which we're not at quite yet, but whatever) puts us at 1896.

That year, William McKinley won the election 271-176. Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii weren't states yet.

McKinley implemented tariffs, fought for the gold standard, and brought America roaring out of a depression.

That's why they killed him.

Huh. I knew it was free to ask Grok things, but the wording made me think I needed to pay for it.

...Holy shit, your advice actually worked. Huh.

Shame about the Grok watermark, though. Would paying for Premium get rid of it?

1
BetterNameUnfound 1 point ago +1 / -0

You still have to pay for X Premium (the blue checkmark) to use it to draw anything other than your personified username, though.

Source: Have a free account just to look at stuff. Asked Grok about this. You need to pay.

Which I may do in the future, but the fact remains.

luxury goods, like gas and coffee.

By gas, do you mean gasoline, or "natural gas" and propane and the like? And how did any of those count as luxury goods?

Either way, yes, fuck Joe Biden, fuck the pedophiles, and fuck their puppetmasters.

My family's at our wits' end, and we still have about five weeks to go.

May justice come swiftly.
