The personnel in SOCOM are as different from Big Army/Big Navy as night is to day. They begin with very fit and highly motivated recruits, they put them through selection and qualification courses that weed out up to 80% of candidates, and then give them training courses to develop skills that are head-and-shoulders above anything else in the military.

They are also encouraged to think outside the box, with "unconventional warfare" being an actual job description for Army SF. In terms of the types of operations you envision, these are the guys who count. It really doesn't matter what the clerks at JBLM or the truck drivers at Ft. Riley are doing.

As to what they're actually doing or prepared to do -- who knows? We would only learn about it after the fact.

Would be an even sweeter deal if there was a Melania double involved too. Naturally, the charade would need to be carried out accurately and completely…

Never in their worst nightmares did the Founding Fathers ever dream that Hindus or Muslims would ever become citizens of the United States, let alone that they would ever run for or hold positions of political power.

“Our Posterity “, remember?

Completely out of 155mm artillery shells? Check.

Forty percent of our attack subs laid up for repairs? Check.

Haven’t taken on a peer competitor since 1945, and yet have a 1-3-1 record in all our major wars since then? Check.

And we’re posturing like we’re still the undefeated heavyweight champ? This looks like a miracle of good planning and sound judgment.

Have driven onto Ft Lewis, Ft Benning,Ft Knox, and USAFA multiple times each, and my vehicle has never been searched. After I got the paperwork at the entry point, the gate guards, who are usually DOD civilians, just waved us on through.

(And this was often when the color-code sign at the gate showed an “elevated terrorist alert “. Kek.)
