That trillion dollars gets spend in the US. a majority of that trillion is salaries and benefits for soldiers and all the items we buy and pay for goes to salaries in America for those. And all those materials get get purchased to build those things? Guess what salaries to those company employees too.
you can bitch and moan about spending all you want but that money is basically a giant economic subsidy.
Also just about all the trillions we have spend in the last decade has been for our own poor choices in the middle east and nothing to do with Nato or Europe.

These are just defense budgets.. The money isn't stuffed into bombs and exploded. A majority of all that money is salaries in this country and even the equipment purchased is made in this country that pays salaries in this country.
For all spending there is a seller and a buyer. You cannot just look at the effects of one side of the transaction while ignoring the other.

Rates need to come back and something needs to be done about non primary residence buyers. Im beyond happy my house is up 120% since i bought it but no way anyone who isn't wealthy can afford the mortgage with current rates.
Also big issue is your average house is larger. No one is building a starter house anymore. And if they are built they are built to rent to people and renting is the # place for illegals.
It would be a non free market move but limiting housing for families to own and in order to rent out there needs a ton more rules on who can own and who can do it. Plus airbnb as contributed to killing affordable housing in cities (but imo fuck cities get a nice house in a nice area, get a yard etc.)
The US needs to at least DOUBLE their house building rates like now. If not 3x it. But we live in a free capitalistic market and these businesses are doing what makes them money regardless of how it effects the housing market.
The problem with this and any government handout/program is to justify their existence the program advertises to get people on it who dont need to be on it. But normal people may be why not. Having 200 a month for food that i dont have to pay for is nice.
No government program should be going out of their way to get people at the fringe levels of being qualified on the program. They should be for people who actually need it and have the incentive to get off it.
Not so much demand but markets cannot work correctly when one side of the equation is artificially not price sensitive.
The market cannot function properly when the government basically is dumping or taking money from one side.
Walmart knows darn well how much is spent at their stores from SNAP and they know those people dont care about the cost. It doesn't help that there is zero incentive by the SNAP users to not waste it or use it.
