SNAP fraud is sad because it could do so much for struggling Americans, like working single mothers, who need the help to feed their kids. Instead half of it goes to people who should not be here.

There many people who deserve and need food funding. Hopefully, with all the technology we have, they can figure who these people are and direct the funding where it belongs.
Welfare is a weaponized social system to degrade people and reward them for being parasites. YOU GET WHAT YOU REWARD. We need to cut off all drug flows with quick trials and death sentences for drug pushers. Adults must be forced to work for a living like the rest of us.

I'm talking about people trying not to live on welfare for life. I'm talking about people who work hard, trying to set a great example of work ethic to their child or children, who just don't make enough to afford decent and nutritional food. That’s not true. I’ve been a county social worker for 45 years, and the families I work with all have at least some kind of employment but don’t make enough to fully feed themselves. Yes, they could all stop having kids and get better educated, a better job etc etc. But this family style is what they grew up with and is their norm just like most of us grew up on some tier of middle class, and we have a different lifestyle. It is just not as black and white as you want to believe it is. People are struggling and hurting, and if you make $30,000 a year with 3 kids, and the dad left you stuck with everything, you need the food banks and food stamps.
The problem with this and any government handout/program is to justify their existence the program advertises to get people on it who dont need to be on it. But normal people may be why not. Having 200 a month for food that i dont have to pay for is nice.
No government program should be going out of their way to get people at the fringe levels of being qualified on the program. They should be for people who actually need it and have the incentive to get off it.

If you're a single mom and you don't want to file for Child Support, because he'll get mad and stop giving you money off the books (and this is the normal response given to the Welfare office by all the Single Mothers), then YOU, the single mom, need to get a better or second job. It's not the job of the American taxpayers to take care of your kids!
Where on earth do you get your information?? Yes, some single mothers won’t file for support, but many do and don’t get it because the father is incarcerated or domestic relations can’t locate them. So now what do they do? Many work a job, even two, but if you’re on the lower IQ end, what kind of a better job do you want her to get? God gave me ability to be a great social worker, but my salary is not great and I live modestly. According to you I should just get a job that pays more, but God didn’t give me brains to program computers or be a doctor. Your blanket statements that ALL single mothers do this is just not true.
I get it from the fact that I work at the Welfare Office and I know firsthand all the bullshit lies that are told, which the Investigators prove are just that, lies.
The number of mothers that fall into your scenario.....the low IQ ones that can't get a better job are really, really small and far from normal. They are not ignorant. I work at the Welfare Office. 80% of my caseload doesn't deserve the assistance they get because they are lying about their circumstances, which numerous investigations have proven.
The others that do get it don't get what they need or deserve (the disabled and elderly), but because we can actually verify their income because it is usually from the federal government, they get the smallest amount that is issued. Unlike the "single" mothers with four kids who claim she has no idea where baby daddy is (he is usually sitting in the other room) and claims that she can't file for support because he gives her "voluntary" support of $100 a month and if she does, he will get mad at her.
I've said this before and I'll say it again--SNAP needs to go. If you're dependent upon someone else to provide for you, you lose the ability to decide for yourself what gets provided. No more credit cards to make welfare recipients feel better about themselves and give them the illusion that they're owed something by taxpayers.
Go back to the days where, if you were unable to provide for yourself and your family, you got a 20 lb bag of dried beans, a bag of dried rice, dried milk, and a big block of cheese. If you want to eat birthday cakes and drink soda, get a job and pay for it yourself like the rest of us do who carry these people on our backs as well as having to provide for us and our own families.
Also, section 8 housing needs to end permanently. You don't get a nice big house so you can feel good about yourself while the rest of us have to pay for our own (and our property values are driven down because you're lazy and don't appreciate what's been handed to you so you don't feel the need to keep the place looking nice). Put them in low-income housing and be done with it. Hell, make a dorm with shared living space for everyone who can't pay for their own place. And force them to maintain it. If they don't pull their own weight, throw them out. My tolerance for these people with their hands out has dropped below zero, especially when I see them on NextDoor (cesspool that it is) ranting how they want free food of their choosing and don't want to hear people tell them to work for it. Yeah, they can go fuck themselves.

One of the things that piss me off is the moving of section 8 people into the suburbs. We work our asses off to get/stay homes/communities and they just give it to them. And they have nicer cars than us.
Yep this happened practically next door to a friend of mine, what used to be a seniors apartment complex has been slowly been converted into section 8 every time a retiree dies or moves out.

I say cut it all. Encourage more labor and donation based food sources for the needy. Food banks, urban gardens and farms, community gardens, scholastic co-op programs, etc.
This cuts the efficacy of the funding as well as the ethical debate of how should have what and provides a solution based on volunteerism, educational opportunity, and motivates & bolsters work ethic of former recipients and those willing to help out their fellow citizens.

I have used SNAP before but only when put of work for a spell. Once I started working again I no longer needed it. I could see at supermarket people with 3 full carts and use SNAP. Thing is the whole family is large and the carts full of junk food and soda. I could never use my SNAP for junk and soda. Without those I ate pretty good. I don't think it was meant to be used the way it is. I remember back when there were requirements. Nowadays not so much.
A single12 ounce bottle of Coca-Cola from Mexico is $1.98 at WinCo. I can't afford to buy too many of those and usually keep only one or two in the fridge in case I get an upset stomach. I mostly drink PowerAid Zero and a little bit of orange juice. I'd drink more orange juice if it wasn't so expensive. A single 48 ounce bottle of orange juice is $4.39.

I owe the state of California property tax in December or they are going to confiscate my house. $333.59.
I have a bank suing me for $2000 that I owe them. The court may decide to confiscate my car and all of my tools.
I have my own gardening business and I would be able to meet all of my financial obligations if it would just simply rain more often.
If I was living in Florida where it rains during the summer instead of California, I'd be very wealthy and wouldn't need SNAP.
