10pm thing for bars is meant that after 10pm people get more drunk and close. Plus bars with dancefloors start mostly later (before 10 pm you are only dining at the tables etc). It is not about the hour, it s about what happens at bars before 10pm and what happens after 10 pm

When they say "covid cleaning" it means there was a covi case at the ATC facility, and they have to clean and disinfect it. Thus, they dont have any operators. It's been SOP since the start of the pandemic.

When you zoom out, it just doesn't show all the planes for some reason. Zoom in, and they are all there. It must be a quirk, as Norfolk and Raleigh are busy all the time.

I dont see any flight restrictions from the FAA. All the airspace around DC is typically restricted anyway, but I dont see any new ones.
There are multiple "security" restriction listed for the DC area on the 15th, though.

I drive by Long Beach airport all the time. There's a Boeing plant that manufactures the C 17 I think it is, and I'd often see C 17's taking off and landing doing their test flights with other nations markings on them. Haven't seen that since covid; though, come to think of it. I think they were sold to them and the painting was done at Boeing too before they were shipped out.

Well, it could be that they are cleaning the ATC center, and controllers aren’t available because of that. As former ATC I don’t buy it though... Washington DC. Center is pretty big... it covers Maryland, eastern Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, and North Carolina, so if they were to shut down airspace I’d think it would be a lower traffic area in there then Washington DC... (unless all they have are single sector flunkies as controllers, or they changed things and can’t reconfigure the radar consoles anymore)

That's about the dumbest excuse I've ever heard from a govt building. No way they're cleaning for COVID. They can do that one terminal at a time and not have to shut down every airport in D.C.
