Consider that the lawyers Trump decided to go with are former federal prosecutors, not Constitutional law experts, not defense attorneys, prosecutors.
Prosecutors exist to show evidence. You can't convict someone without showing evidence. Defense attorneys are the ones that like quick summary judgments early on in the trial.

While they may have set a new precedent for impeaching a president not currently in office, they have also set a new precedent no one else has talked about yet that impeachment hearings can be conducted with no supreme court.

I hope it will be a case of once the trial starts Trump will need to defend 2 things that a) he incited the capitol storming through his speech that day and b) it was his lying and refusal to admit he lost the election fair and square that caused people to storm the capital. This is where I lean. I have no faith that anything in the trial will be allowed to develop legally, much less fairly. I don't want to be biting my nails until we're at a point in which we say "it's a part of the plan", "it HAD to be this way because XYZ", or "Fraud vitiates everything!"
This isn't a movie anymore. Lives are being endangered or lost, livelihoods are being lost, momentum for a public awakening is instead at best compared to December/January, and either civil war or foreign occupation loom ever closer.

I think the second lawyer did a fantastic job at completely tearing apart the constitutionality (or lack thereof) of this whole trial...enough so that this would have been tossed out of any court in a heartbeat. The fact that it didn't "change anyone's mind" is a testament to how desperately anti-Trump Dems and RINOs really are.
At this point, it opens the door for the Trump team to shit all over the Dems fake prosecution and expose even more stupidity.
