I think part of the reason for the sham-peachment is that Republicans KNOW how much they crapped in the nest this time. 70 MILLION Americans are willing to just walk away. If we have a good 3rd party option, the GOP would lose at least 40 MILLION American voters overnight.
Look at who voted for the sham-peachment. The 6 Republican Senators are either planning retirement after their term... or have just been re-elected and don't face voters for another 6-years (so they feel safe). Even McConnell, who set up this entire sham-peachment, voted to find it unconstitutional.
I think part of this is that Republicans want to offer Americans a band-aid after stabbing us in the back, like it will make any difference. They will let Trump be "impeached" in the Senate by 50%+ vote... but will block the 2/3rds majority needed to take it to the next level. "See what WE did? Aren't we wonderful? We are protecting the conservative Americans!!!!"
Don't believe any of the hype. My family will NOT vote for any Republican in 2022 and 2024. The entire party is corrupt. There are only a handful of decent ones, but most were fully colluding with Democrats in the election fraud and cover-up. We're done.
For us, it's 3rd Party option... or just stay home and REFUSE TO VOTE for the next 2 elections. Wouldn't work. If Trump is found to have won the election then Roberts would have to preside. Even if you discount that... the President of the Senate is fraudulent which means the person selected to preside was fraudulently selected. If the results are overturned then the impeachment is invalidated. The only play they could be making is for public opinion.
