I got a phone call last week from the national Republican Committee. They wanted me to rejoin the RNC and pay my “renewal dues” (I.e. fundraising). The woman hesitatingly launched into her spiel, invoking the names of Josh Hawley, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz (not Mitch McConnell). From her tone, I could tell she’d been having a rough time with previous calls. I was polite, but firm in expressing my irritation and frustration with the RNC. Something to the effect that they had so many chances and did nothing. And they didn’t stand by Trump when he needed them the most (but he sure helped them!). And I asked to be taken off their call list.
Kind of sad, since I’ve been a lifelong Republican. But now I’m just tired of their lies and being used by their national organization as just a dollar or vote source.
Yup, a lot of us who gave hundreds during Trumps four years want nothing to do with the RNC. And we will further make our voices heard when candidates like Rubio come around campaigning for the next vote.

I am torn however. I am completely finished with the GOP and have even changed my voter registration. Except for possibly giving my support for someone on a local level where we can and must make change, I am not inclined to give my backing. In the federal arena, I have no appetite to be abused again. An alternative news content provider said it best when he compared our relationship with the GOP to a woman that keeps going back to an abusive husband. The abused wife believes the promises that things will be different going forward only to be deceived and beaten again - and so the cycle continues. Unless Trump can dramatically change the party and I can get firm commitments on very specific issues, I am not playing - even for Trump.
How naïve we once were. Do you remember when the republicans took back control of the house in 2010 how we all just knew that Washington policies were going to really change.
