This is a tool of rhetoric. Coming up with a word or phrase that sticks and causes people to connect with it emotionally regardless of whether or not the phrase actually describes anything.
I also suspect their is an element of simply following orders. Someone high up in media might incorrectly say "Qanon" instead of "Q" because they are incompetent and everyone below they just repeats the phrase. No one questions it, they just parrot it.

I guess I don't see the big deal. Even some of the videos (or at least one that I remember) linked to in the resources section on this site say QAnon. Q + Anon = QAnon if you're looking for a shortened name.
If you know Q then you would know there are not "Qanons", do your research.

See, “anons” are just dudes and dudettes who spend time on research boards. Sometimes their special interest turned into a title, like lawyer-anon, Doctor-anon, actor-anon, plumber-anon etc. that meant you could offer special insight into that field, you had expertise. In light of that, the phrase Qanon makes no sense at all. Like Q said!

That doesn't mean they haven't tried to form their own search term, but I can't see how it doesn't make sense for people to say that. We can try to make it plain that that's the MSM term and not what we actually use anymore, but it's silly to say it doesn't make sense.

I kind of get where you're coming from, in how they choose to stick to one moniker, and one moniker alone, in order to herd people in the direction of the keywords they're SEOing, conditioning MSM viewers to associate, and etc.
But don't we call it "Qanon" ourselves? I can sense that calling it that has fallen slightly out of favor among experienced followers of Q. But sometimes I struggle to think of another term that's appropriate. "Q" can sound awkward, "Anon" sounds slightly sketch and 4Channy

Sorta, it's to create negative confirmation bias/association by linking an amorphous group of people(basically applicable anyone that could do anything) with Q.
Creating a confirmation bias link that allows them to label bad behavior of any kind done by virtually anyone as done by an anon and by extension linking it to 'Qanon'.
It's basically a deliberate attempt at creating their own narrative regarding Q, that all the confused think their term is what to search for is more than likely secondary to actually creating the confusion and misinformation...

People try to learn about other cultures and say what their told, then when they do, they're told no, stupid, you're saying it wrong, like it's some dissing game. Well, that's one thing I enjoy about living overseas. There are MANY frustrations I have culturally, but most Chinese speakers here (I'm not in China, but very nearby) would very likely not attack you for that.
They'll probably correct your pronunciation, since Chinese is tonal, and you'll probably get that part wrong even if you study Chinese.... To them it's four clearly different tones. To me it's four words that all sound nearly identical...
I've told people here about the "happy holidays" vs. "Merry Christmas" nonsense back home. They usually can't understand it. I tell them it's like if they say "Happy Chinese New Year!" and I say "fuck you! That's not MY culture's holiday! Be more inclusive!"
Instead I just say "happy new year to you too!" and we both smile and everyone is happy....
I celebrate Christmas but would have zero problems returning a "happy Hannukah" or a.... What do they say for Kwanzaa? I've never had anyone wish me a happy one... If they did, I'd just say it back.

It's possible though that the first one you mentioned was Cantonese, or another dialect. The one I said was Mandarin. A lot of Chinese people in the US, especially in restaurants and such are from Hong Kong, which is Cantonese. Those people also tend to be a lot snippier and short tempered... Could just be a case of Cantonese attitude. In the Mandarin world though, people will just be impressed that you know how to say it in Chinese and smile. It's not easy to get people here to smile either, but that almost always works

Been following Q for a while, and I definitely remember the term QAnon from earlier days. Maybe Q didn't coin the term, but it wasn't always an MSM propaganda word.
Although true, I don't believe that the Fake News has the investigative skills to find this information. They refer to Q as Qanon, Q followers at Qanon, and the movement as Qanon. At some point, they just grabbed onto Qanon even though they know that it is Q and the followers are anon
Q did not intend us to be 'covert'! Our purpose is to spread the information we researched and discovered, not hide it secret venues or refuse to name it aloud.
He also specifically mentioned not to identify ourselves with any affiliation which will make it easier to deradicalize normies.
Questions from Q can be used as a springboard to map the strings of the people in DC in a way that can be fed to normies, but it's better to avoid any specific Q assertions that aren't supported by irl events (which are only a few).
