The high IQ types are the worst. They can memorize elements and spew out equations, but are devoid of logic or critical reasoning skills. They are smart, but so unwise.
I think it’s the high average types, between one and two standard deviations above the norm that are the worst, not the truly high IQ types. It may be a difference on what we consider high IQ, but I consider high IQ to be rare enough that if you walk down the street and see 100 people, you won’t see one.
Anyway, people in that range are smart enough to have gotten straight A’s through most of their classes in high school and college, and tend to think they’re very smart. In the grand scheme of things, they’re a bit better than average, but function more on learning than on reasoning. They’re actually fairly numerous, and most well paid professionals are in this range. The most vehement vaccine advocates I know in my circle I’m pretty sure are in this range. A lot of outspoken liberals in this range - most extremely outspoken liberals will gladly tell you they graduated from such and such university with honors. These are also the same people I see parroting “the science.”
I know this is all anecdotal, but I know a guy with a truly high IQ - he ceilinged an IQ test at the local university (160+, at least 4 standard deviations above the mean) more than once (as child and adult) so we can comfortably say he has a very high IQ. He also took the MCAT (test for med school) and was in the 99th percentile. He’s actually a very humble guy, he will attentively listen to what you say and speaks without jumping to conclusions. I’d spoken with him right before lockdowns began, and he was pretty convinced that covid was a scam even then. Had good reasons too, and none were conspiratorial in nature, but basically none of the data fit.
The unfortunate thing though, these high average types are likely seen to be “smart” by the average and low average types, so it’s very dangerous when they’re misled. They’re natural leaders of the masses, and most lack the humility necessary to critically access their viewpoints.

I believe the belligerent vax enthusiasts are feeling criticized by the mere existence of the unvaxxed.
They need us to literally die so they can feel validated. They only took the jab because they were tricked into thinking the entire heard was doing it too. More and more doctors and scientists are getting the word out that it’s ineffective and dangerous and now the insecure sheep are desperate to avoid the reality of their own shortcomings.
If the booster shot is widely rejected (which I strongly believe it will be) the hyper vaxxers will be forced to side with the majority and turn it down as well. That’s when they’ll settle down and pretend they were skeptical the entire time.
Of course 4-6% are lost forever but their minority status will render them insignificant in due time.

Their competitiveness went to their head, and when they turned back to look for others trying to catch up on the vaxx, they were surprised by how many of us didn’t bother to compete. Their victory was hollowed. Then came the psychological process you and OP described.
It will be interesting to see the booster rates. The Sunken Cost Fallacy suggests that stubborn vaxxed will say in for a penny, in for a pound, but the widespread true and bad publicity of adverse vaxx effects will scare many others. I think it will come down to how hard the totalitarian vaxx bullying will get, if the bullies are still in power.

If I had the jab by this point I would be scared, even if nothing had happened to me or I’d had side effects. Of course that’s because I’ve been reading information and anecdotes of people with side effects. I refused to “participate” in the mass hysteria of Covidians and I refuse to participate through a jab.
Now we have to worry where else are they going to supply this mRNA material... IVs, nasal swabs, flu shots, other vaccines, etc. Their goal is to have everyone manipulated with these replicating mRNA spike proteins.

This is also why some scams persist for so long. It's very hard for most people to admit mistakes and look foolish in front of their peers, so they'll rationalize anything if it means that they can maintain the illusion of good decision-making, if only in their own minds.
I agree, although I actually think it’s more about their very real fear that they may have made a terrible mistake - and your/our compliance reassures them that they’ll be okay. By now people have to be getting an inkling that something is wrong, talk about feeling like you have a ticking time bomb inside. Every time one of us says “No way” it brings back that fear and doubt that maybe they have been had. I don’t think that they honestly want others to suffer - they want reassurance that THEY won’t suffer any consequences for this decision, so they HAVE to be right . . . and we HAVE to be wrong so that they’re okay.
