Recently masks were mandated in Illinois for schools. Our school board had already stated they were optional except for buses. Because they're public transportation, they were required. Tonight, they had an emergency meeting. I revised plan was released earlier today. It stated "strongly recommended" for school property AND on the buses! It was passed unanimously.
Most other local schools are not requiring it as well. I feel like the mandate is a test to see if they still have power over us and they clearly do not. I'm ridiculously introverted so it took a lot for me to get up there today. But I did it! I not only got applause after my speech, but during it as well! I'm so proud of myself, our community and our school board!
Good for you! God bless you! WWG1WGA.
Way to go! 👏👏👏
This ^ kind of courage is what it is going to take from EACH OF US! It's no longer okay to be content lurking. Make your stand now, we are STRONG together!
Well done, patriot!!
The power of One !
That's just it, though. We each might just be one, but we are the majority. And it gets more and more obvious every day!
We had a huge crowd tonight and it was amazing! School board meetings everywhere here are consistently getting higher numbers than ever before!
That’s what I meant: one person may think he or she isn’t making a difference, but one person makes all the difference, because if each person does something - that translates to several. I always tell the kids to never think that they can’t make a difference! And yes, it’s so encouraging about the participation in school boards, etc., lately in the news!
Where we go one, we go all.
We can all be “the one”.
Not only are we the majority. We are a growing majority.
Never mess with a Patriot mom! Great job!
That's great! Way to go, patriot.
Awesome 👍
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this with us as well!
First, introvert and socially anxious are two different things, although someone can be both.
Second, a good cause is far more important than stage fright and you should be proud for speaking up. We need more people like you attending schoolboard meetings and city halls. Love it.
I'm both but trying to change that. My anxiety is definitely the worse of the 2. But I can't expect others to step up if I'm not willing.
Tonight was a huge step for me in so many ways. 🙂
You know you are a hero now!
Amazing 😎
We’re ALL PROUD OF YOU Mom!!! 💕👍🏽
Bravo, fren! I have a favorite t-shirt, done in a sort of commie style with clenched fist, that says "Introverts Unite! We're here, We're uncomfortable, And we want to go home!". Congratulations on sticking it out, and not going home too early :)
lol... so true.
atta pede!
Congratulations! Great to hear. Turns out WWG1WGA wasn’t just a tag line
Congratulations, anon. You done good. Real good.
We need more patriots like you.
That is so awesome! I hate speaking in front of crowds also so I totally understood what a big step this was for you.
Not too long ago someone posted a video of people sitting on a hill at a concert. One guy stood up and danced by himself, for a long time. Finally, after quite some time, a 2nd person joined. After that, it was nothing until a huge crowd was dancing. The speaker said it was the 2nd person who was really key in swaying the others to change their mind.
You never know when you may be that key person to help sway a crowd. And if you are the first, you will need a lot of patience, while you wait for others to gather courage.
I love that video, the First Follower. They can be the true leader & catalyst for change.
Mandates are not laws! Way to go friend
Way to go, fren! That's the way to do it!
So proud of you!! God bless!!!
as a fellow introvert who was forced to get comfortable with public speaking, I sympathize highly with this. Nice work!
PROUD of you for helping to take back our schools! 👏
If each person will have courage we'll win with God's help!
I am so proud of you, every stand we take strengthens the whole of humanity. Let’s weave this quilt together and take our country back. Many hails to you and eternal love. God bless.
Im going tmw night to our school, any pointers or advice ? Did you print anything or bring anything? I would greatly appreciate and help!
I printed out my speech. We had some that just spoke but most had something to read even if it was on their phone. I have my speech below if it helps. I recommend keeping the emotion to a minimum but keeping passion in it. This matters to all of us and they need to know it. Don't be afraid to let them know that we are watching who votes for what and will remember that at the next election.
I am here to implore our schools to give our families and children the freedom of choice in regards to masks. The packaging from even N95 masks proclaim that they do not stop the spread of viruses. The CDC claims that they are beneficial in children, yet no study has ever been conducted with live children. That was confirmed recently with Dr. Robert Redfield, a former head of the CDC. I, personally, would be terrified to know what was on my child’s mask at the end of every school day last year. As a mom of a typical 6 year old boy, it came home wet and stained. Every. Day. Normally, there were more than 1. No amount of berating, bribing, begging or any other form of coercion yielded better results. Because he’s a child.
I, like most, was ecstatic when the announcement came from the school that masks were going to be optional aside from the buses. Now, here we are. Our tyrannical governor has once again proclaimed an unconstitutional mandate. Rumors have flown around social media and in gossip circles everywhere about how he can pull funding if we don’t comply. There’s a few problems with those rumors. Our state Legislature makes the laws, not the governor. Per Dillon’s Rule, our state’s governor only has the power granted to him by our state legislature. Never has J.B. Pritzger been given the power to mandate masks. Furthermore, school code 105 ILCS does not grant that power to the Illinois State Board of Education, either.
I am asking the board to stand for the freedom of choice for our children. We are responsible for teaching our children to make the right choice and not the easy one. Please be brave and set the example that our future deserves.
Thank you for your time.
Perfect, thank you so much! And that was a fantastic speech! I will use as a guide for me and get Commiefornia names & such. Thanks again! 😇
In a surgical setting, masks must be changed every 20 minutes or so because even in a hygenically cleaned surgery, there is contamination. In any other setting, it's nowhere near as clean so a mask must be replaced every ten minutes AND every time it is touched. To do otherwise risks pneumonia and other diseases. And don't forget that hands must be washed before putting a mask on.
From this you can calculate, approximately, how many masks your child will need to take to school each day, hygenically packed. Also the risk of dermatitis from so much hand washing.
This deserves a round of applause! (We need a gif for this, please, mods!) u/#happening
I see this thanks
Our Illinois school board meets Tuesday. May I ask what you spoke about and also which schools are not mandating masks? Our school board is mandating so I'd like to give them some references for Illinois schools thanks. And congrats.
Forgot to mention savederek.com! Derek Pearcy is from Shelbyville and has a map of current schools in Illinois. It's expanding rapidly and he's trying to keep up with it, but be patient if it's not 100% accurate yet. He's got some great tips and inspired me.
I actually posted my speech in another reply if you'd like to read it. We also had an engineer talking about the filtration of masks versus the size of the virus. He spoke first, followed by me and then the head of our local unmasked group. She touched on the social damages of masking children. Others followed offering support to our board.
I'm fortunate that none of ours want the masks but feel obligated to follow the mandate. I recommend reaching out to your board members first.
Just remember to be passionate and respectful without putting a ton of emotion in it. The I just don't like them argument will never win.
Air punch - Go you good thing
Fighting the same battle here in downstate . Crapitol area where was this ?? We might pull the kids.
The area around 57/70 is heavily going masks optional. Effingham is an exception, unfortunately. Contact your board members and have a dialogue with them. Most of ours are just afraid of state retribution.
Look up Dillon's Rule and go from there. They also need to know that they have Tort immunity on their side against the mandate. Here's a link of schools that are going optional. It's a work in progress since meetings are happening everywhere, but it's definitely some inspiration! Even Rockford seems to be on the list!

We get the there threatening funding bullshit. I said well if they are at home your not getting the funding either.
Try giving them a list of schools already standing up to the tyranny. That list is growing like crazy! Derek Pearcy from Shelbyville has some great FOIA requests that show they have nothing to fear. He's on Facebook and savederek.com.
This is a way to fight back in Illinois too...

Good for you 👍👏
Thank you so much for stepping out of your comfort zone! You probably spoke for so many people that didn't have the courage to speak up. Common sense is desperately needed right now and everyone needs to start saying it out loud. God knows, the media won't shut their trap, with their continuous nonsense.
That is so awesome!! I'm very introverted as well and know how hard something like that is. Way to go!
Great job Patriot!
I’m proud of you too buddy! Keep up the good fight!
It's a rush isn't it?
That apprehensive anxiety is a bitch, but you feel euphoric after.
And I rode that high all the way home and made my first post. Lol
First public speech and handshake status gone all in the same day. I'm still so excited I'm about to cave and find some NyQuil or something to force me to sleep! 🤣🤣. All the excitement and support makes it easier to step outside of my box. I love it!
I'll be there with my parents. This is not ending soon. Bring as many people as possible. Everyone's starting to have enough. People that said I was crazy a week or two ago now are asking what to do.
God Bless you! Well Done!
